maybe the reaction of the government was heavy-handed, but laws are there to protect society. so you say society doesn't want to be protect in this case? people can choose to drink this milk and its their own risk if they do (and our tax-dollars)

if they want to drink it, it should be labelled appropriately and then offered for sale. If you dont want to pay people's medical bills then i suggest you start advocating for private health care. The idea of public health care is(was supposed to be) universal health care for all, no questions asked. Not a way to socially engineer people to behave in a certain manner.

what if a mother buys the milk assuming all risks and feeds it to her children. they didn't make the active and education decision to drink possible harmful milk

Then the mother is an idiot. What if the mother feeds her kid rat poison? Since when is the government "mother"?

sorry, but no sympathy for your cause jay.
i have no sympathy for those who want the state to control everyone else but then complain when the state also then controls them.

Isn't that the same thing? ;)

I don't see it being a problem.
If it's a legal issue then have his customer's sign a waiver or something.
It's not like he's serving thousands.

I was doing some reading in the latest MacLean's Magazine about an Ontario egg farmer that got raided because he had too many chickens.
Too many chickens??

This country seriously needs to sit down and look over it's protection mechanisms that it has for our farmers!
It's like a bad 3rd world socialist cartel... :(

People should be free to choose their food source.
Next they'll be after people who have gardens and feed their kids! :eyes: OMGWTFBBBQ!!!1!! /sarcasm

I LOVE MILK. I have what could be a unhealthy addiction to milk, but at least I know my bones are strong.

Now bash away.

The Ontario Government is funny.

They tell people not to drink raw milk based on the fact that, if not handled properly, it can contain E.Coli and other disease-causing agents.

Instead, they want us to drink pasteurized milk, which, no matter how it's handled, has been linked to causing stomache and intestinal cancer. (The chemicals used to 'clean' the milk specifically, not the milk itself)

Oh boy ^_^ I'm glad the Government is on MY side!

afk for a minute - I don't drink milk, so I'm going to buy a pack of cigarettes to keep the Government happy

Ok back.

I drank raw milk when I was in Guatemala for 3 months when I was 12. I HATE milk, but when I was in Guatemala, I could drink it. Raw milk has a much fuller and more natural taste, there isn't that bleachy aftertaste in the back of my throat like I get from milk here in Canada.

Raw milk is ok as long as it's handled properly and the cows are healthy. Instead of banning it, the farms that sell raw milk should be regulated and inspected from time to time to ensure safety, rather than removing the rights of people who want milk without the cancer.
