Seems to much for what is does. I'm not to picky about how movies look unless its on antenna tv lol.

The reviews have almost unanimously said it's better than Sony's Blue Ray ;)

Most reviews I've seen have said it's hands down the best option for an HD DVD player right now... As I have no HDTV, I have no reason to buy it.

i'm rocking a 40" sony hdtv lcd bravia and i'm at the point to buy a 360 to hold me down until the ps3 rolls out with a decent 'edition'. i still have alot of faith in the blu-ray technology, but i don't think i'll be needing the hd-dvd part of the 360 as i have an upconverting dvd player thats connected via HDMI. =)

damn dude thats a lot of money for a tv (I know it is suppose to be like the best tv or something). How much did you pay for it? They are like 3 gs or more I thought.

it's got about a year and half on it, i got it when they first dropped and the MSRP was $3,5-3,700. Managed to get mines for 2,800 at that time. I don't regret that investment at all and i ended up spending essentially all of that summer at home saving for it. I have to admit though, it is probably the best thing that has happened to my studio apartment in manhattan =) i have her mounted to the wall with a pivot mount. I got a bunch of electronics hooked up to it now.

7.1 Sony Receiver via Optical Out
XBOX, PS2, NES via Component, S-Video, and RCA for NES
Upconverting HD DVD Player via HDMI
PC via VGA - Audio RCA out to RCA into Receiver
Digital Cable Box via Component
Sling Box to Cable Box via S-Video

PC and Sling box on a linksys network group switch via RJ45
Group Switch to Linksys Wireless Cable Modem.
2 PC's, 1 Laptop, 1 G5 connected to the Cable Modem
coming soon - wireless Mac Book Pro

I took some pieces apart at the moment since I'm rewiring my bathroom to have some stereo with volume control in there, should be done by mid December.

All I need now is a PS3 and 360 to swap out the xbox and ps2. Lose the upconverting dvd player, xbox, and ps2 and go strictly 360+HD and Blu-Ray via PS3. Whew thats alot of dough I shelled, but hey I'm a geek and I work hard for my money...gotta spend it on myself...single life rules!

Amen to that. Amen to every single word of that. Good work. No love for the Wii, though? :p

How could it be better? Whats better about it? All I know is that blu-ray has greater capacity than HD-DVD...so by my logic blu-ray would win hands down. :conf:

unfortunately no love for the wii as I won't be shelling out money for that system if i have a 360 and PS3 lol. I simply won't have enough time to play all 3 consoles, let alone 2 of them. I also am really close to getting my hands on a modded PSP full of roms from all the legacy systems as well as the most current games via iso.

thanks for the kind words about my said investments, it's taken a bunch of time as it is to afford it. Also helps that I've ceased my nightlife activities and went for the at-home approach.

The problem with this 360 HD-DVD Drive is that its only for playing HD-DVD movies, There not going to release games in the HD-DVD format. This is why The PS3 has the advantage with all its games releasing in the Blu-Ray format to take full advantage of there large capacity.

I would have to agree on that. It would be nice if it did however it really depended on if game developers would take advantage of it.
