finally nearly finished a tune

After a year of managing nothing more but loops and intros i have finally nearly finshed a tune.

Could anybody please give it a listen and tell me improvements that need to be made. think i need help with mixing and equ'ing.

Also the electro type synth that comes in half way through - how do i make this sound fatter and to fill the space more. sounds too thin at the moment- would stereo widening help?

Finally, technical stuff aside, is it any good?

Cheers

bassline could be ALOT fatter.

song as a whole lacks energy. i know you're going for the whole minimalist thing, but i would dump more percussion in there and maybe some stabs.

also, with electro, you have to remember the bassline isn't the whole song. for the most part, all this has is a bassline (i would have brought the lead in alot sooner too). listen to some of your favourite songs and take more notice of how much background synths and effects are used - you need more!

good effort though for a first song!
keep at it, the idea is very good ;)

chorus, panning, layering, lots of things could help. just aim to totally F*CK the sound up, and see what you come up with! :)

Cheers for the advice. I'll work on the bass line and try and make it fatter. I'll also try and add more percussion and stuff. I was goin for a more minimal sound so didn't want too much going on, but perhaps at the moment, it sounds as if I've been lazy?

Could anyone else please have a listen and give their perspective on it. I really want to make this sound good, as after 12 months i want something to be proud of

I like the sound if it, but as said before, it could be a lot better if you make the bass line a lot fatter. And I don't know, but I have this feeling that sidechaining the lead would make for a nice sound as well :)

Recommendations for making the bass fatter..?

a little unison (without stereo spread) could work

I like the sound of this!
Agree the bassline could be a bit phatter! but sounds good, the stomping beat and clap work nicely together!

Dezma - i am using a 2 voice unison but i will experiment with more voices, maybe try layering another sound on top.

DJ Twenty - thanks very much, you've made my day :D
