Trance Club in Dallas?
View this Thread in Original format
David Adams
I haven't really been clubbing for years now. Out of curiosity, are there any good Trance clubs in the Dallas area I can go to, have a few drinks, and listen to some good Trance? Dancing in my 30's is questionable :D
iclone
i qualify for that age bracket...

lizard lounge has some good nights, as well as EDEN [afterhours], but i can't think of anything else that's consistently for trance...just random bookings.
awlakers
i think the tunnel is the closest thing to trance that dallas has right now haha

In the coming weeks, there are quite a few DJs who spin trance that will be performing at Lizard Lounge.

David....

Few more things....... if you're on MySpace, feel free to add me to your Friends List & then you'll receive all the bulletins I post & the invites I send out for hot upcoming events at Lizard Lounge, Insomnia, & Eden.

Not sure if you know about the after hours spots that are open currently so just in case you're unfamiliar with them, I'll briefly tell you about them.

Insomnia's MySpace

2250 Manana Drive
Dallas, TX 75220

Resident DJs

DJ Raydar
DJ Shaolin
DJ Andy Szontagh
DJ Ragman

Insomnia, which is The Clubhouse during business hours, seems more like a mini-rave than anything else. It's not uncommon for you to see the 18 to 21 year old crowd stomp dancing or having fun with their glowsticks. There's more than enough comfortable chairs for you to sit back & relax in. A good number of The Clubhouse dancers do stay around for Insomnia so if you're wanting a private lap dance or if the main floor seems too crowded & loud then take advantage of their VIP area upstairs. VIP access is available for just $5 extra unless you're taken upstairs by a dancer for a lapdance.

Eden's MySpace

2151 Manana Drive
Dallas, TX 75220

Resident DJ

DJ Willie Trimmer

Eden, which is Jaguar's Gold Club during business hours, makes a huge impression on the customer as they pull into the parking lot. There is a beautiful water fountain to the left of the entrance which enhances the beautiful design of the building. You have the option of parking your vehicle yourself or you can valet park. The main room is big, but not as large as Insomnia's in my opinion. Eden has about the same amount of table & chairs as Insomnia, but I think they're spaced too close together as I have had trouble sometimes walking through certain areas. The dance floor is in the middle in front of the stage & it's large enough to hold a good number of people & not have everyone feel crowded. The sound system is awesome as their equipment is top of the line.

Like Insomnia, a good number of the dancers stay for Eden & they are all very sexy & private lap dances are available if so desired. I'm personally familiar with how Eden has their VIP area setup. If you come to Eden with a group of people & would like to have your own booth & table then you can rent a cabana for the evening. I'm not aware of what the cost is to rent a cabana.

Eden is also known for booking internationally known DJs to play at Eden. On Eden's opening night, Dumonde performed. Tomcraft, D:Fuse, & BeeJ are some of the DJs who have performed at Eden in recent weeks. They will usually have at least one headliner a month & on other weeks they will have one or two guest DJs that are usually from the Dallas metroplex.

Based on what I've said, Eden obviously sounds like the classier place, but that's because their investors have far more money available to them.

Some people say they hate Insomnia & that they will only go to Eden & vice versa, but then there are people like me who like both venues equally. Each of them have their pros & cons & it all boils down to personal preference. The only thing I ask is that you don't let other people's opinion keep you from trying either venue at least once.

, I've never been good at determining what genre a DJs music would be. Hell, after listening to the songs available on their MySpace, all of them, with the exception of Irene, sound like trance music to me. Hell, I am clueless as to what the difference is between trance & progressive trance. Oh well, was just mainly informing him about the shows.

In my opinion, the crowd vibe is determined on how the headliner's performance is going. Headliners at Lizard Lounge generally go on at 1:00am. The length of their set will vary & is predetermined. The longest I've heard a headliner play is 3 hours & that was done by Carl Cox on October 13th. He spun from 1:00am until 4:00am when the club was due to close for the night. That was the best & most amazing event that I have been to at Lizard Lounge. The dance floor was still packed at 4:00am when he had to end his set.

I wanted to share that with you so you could get an idea of how awesome the vibe can get there.

18 & up are welcome with a valid identification.

I don't need lap dancers. I'm afraid the wife would have issues :D

I just want to listen to some really good Trance, have some drinks, and maybe (depending on my alcohol consumption) dance the night away.

Thanks for all the information!!! I'll have to check out all of these.

And, maybe one day, my Trance productions will be good enough to be heard there :D

How are the DJs? I would love to get back there and watch them in action.

The only problem I have is trying to find someone to go with. How lame would it be to show up by myself? Guys, you have to realize that I haven't been clubbing since my Navy days - mid 90s.....

Wouldn't they be a little more house as of late? Closer and Ordinary Moment are definitely trance, but Electric Funk and Long Train Running are definitely more on the house side, no? They do both, but they seem to really have focused on the house side of things lately to me
