I dunno, I really like the thing. and i have every sound bank for it. I understand it's way over used though. What do you guys think of it?
mysticalninja
its pretty cool, has some wierd high freqs.
MrJiveBoJingles
I own it and I like it okay. Haven't given it a whole lot of use yet, though.
Final Call
I only use it for textures and gating FX sounds.Other then that, v-station is my whore =]

ditto. i use it primarily for layering under my main lead. it's pretty sweet for fx and pads, too.

i used it when i didnt have outboard gear and its fantastic. i agree with mysticalninja it does have some strange high freqs but that isnt a major issue. its much better than loads of other rubbish on the market. in order to really bring out its true power you need to work with it for a while.

I like it for some sounds, if you overuse it though I reckon it can sound a bit cliched and cheesy tho, a bit like any supersawy type synth I guess! It is nice and simple though and has quite a good sound. I do prefer V station over vanguard though, it sounds a little more interesting and less stereotypical!

Vanguard is a great synth; it does certain things that no other does quite like it.

I'd mention it specifically, but then I'd be giving away my evil secrets. mwahaha

yeah, the reason it has different high frequencies is because the synth engine actually "wraps" the excess frequencies back into the low end... i don't know if it had ever been done before, but the result was unique; if you're not careful, of course, you get a metallic sound, and it's harder to escape that "digital" feel.

while vanguard can be useful, i dont often use it. i think the sound is too distorted and grainy for my taste

Personally I love it. Great sounds and hardly hits the CPU.

+1.

its a great synth and good sounds are possible. its major bonus is the efficiency.

id say its the best vst with regards to usefulness vs efficiency.
