sadly people think the world is theirs with a golden spoon in their mouth.

This case.....

has a diamond encrusted spoon.

Get a job you whiny (hippy did not qualify here). Its not that hard to afford things like that when mommy and daddy foot the bill FOR EVERYTHING ELSE IN YOUR LIFE.

My first gig was on their 22nd anniversary. They'd made plans to go to a fancy restaurant and then go out dancing. When I told them that I was going to be playing out, they cancelled those plans and came to see me, in a shoddy club surrounded by 16-20 year old kids ed out of their mind.

I them

And yeah, get a job and pay for your own gear. It's much more rewarding. By the way, don't expect to make DJ'ing a career. The chances of that happening are incredibly slim.

THROAT PUNCH!

It's not that hard to save the money guy. My brother just turned 16 and bought his own decks with money he'd been saving for a few months. He literally just saved every single dollar he'd ever received. It was creepy but it paid off.
Lateralus
Geez, you bums are so condescending...

Some advice for our student dj with turntables in their eyes: Youl appreciate your stuff more if you pay for it yourself, and that way no one can tell you how to use it either. Keep in mind that good tables+needles+a mixer is expensive, and if you buy it new your gonna have to pay out of your ass for it.

Get stuff used first off, and that way, when you do eventually get good , youl appreciate how well it all works much better!
Groundhog Boy
Buy good used stuff. IMO, you're too young and have too little expendable cash for large scale purchases about something you may not be entirely sure of yet. I'm sure your parents are thinking the same. The things I was into 10 years ago have changed quite a bit.

this year i was excited cus i thought i could ask my parents for turn tables ive been telling them about it for a long time now. ive been djing using traktor 3 for awhile now but i wanne get into the real thing at first my dad was kind of into it he said he can get me a club gig when i turn 18 (this is before i told him i play trance) he thought i wanted to be a hip hop dj because rap was the only thing i was listening to until last january when i got introduced to edm (ive been hooked ever since) anyways my parents divorced this summer and my dad never talks about my djing anymore even when i play trance in the car he will never ask about it or anything.( he always said you have a good taste when i used to play hip hop in the car) so anyways i asked them both this year for turn tables and they both said if i want to have a hobbie like this buy it with your own hard earned money or wait till your done school, and you have a career. i dont think they understand that i want this as my career.

well, everyone has a different situation...but if you want those decks bad enough you'll work hard for them :)

show your parents you're serious by working for them, and then maybe they might negotiate splitting the cost 50/50 with you (but don't expect them to). just move your arse and get to it! :whip: :)

or you could try this

"WOW DAD TEXT BOOKS ARE EXPENSIVE THIS YEAR! 1000 dollars! and then you need to buy the cd siwth them as well they cost about 500 dollars"

"I NEED TO PAY FOR A TUTOR!"

there you go.. you could buy a load now. Just do well in school or your parents will never trust you again.
