Hi All,

I have thinking about whether or not to get LASIK eye surgery to fix my slight myopia, -2.50 both eyes.

Has anybody had this done, or know somebody who has?

What were your results? How was the procedure? The recovery period? and the cost?

And anyother pertinent info!

TA is usually a good place for info - so help me out!

D

I have two friends who work for Lasik, and they both say it works, and is pretty safe(objective opinions).

I think they also said that you may have to get it done again after a certain amount of years, thats what I would look into.

I got my eyes fixed pretty recently ,on summer. I forgut the specific method of surgery which was done .I think It was called PRR or PRK or something close to that. But it was a common method.

I got it done in IRan not in canada so i donno about the prices here but it costed me around 700$.
The surgery itself is kinda scary ,they use some kinda equipment on you'r eyes to keep them open. Then you will have to look straight into some freaky red light ,then the surgen takes out a layer from you'r eye. Gotta say that the layer is very thin and it won't hurt since they get you'r eyes numb. Then the worst part is when the surgen somehow burns the layer, you can actually smell you'r eye burning .lol
I donno if in canada the recovery part is easier or not ,but back there I actually expreinced blindness for a week. I couldn't look at light(especially sun light) for about 3,4 days and it took a me week till things started getting back to normal.
Then it took me about a month till i got a decent vision. In the first weeks you'r gonna see everything kind of bloury but it will go away and eventually you'r vision's gonna become prefect.

It's been around 6 months now and i have had no problems at all and I see without any dependency to glasses or contact lenses.

I hope that helps.

I had my eyes done at Lasik in August and it is the greatest thing ever!!!

They are very thorough and give you all the information up front. Prices and procedure depend completely on your eyes.

I had mine done on a Saturday morning, went home for a nap and was then out Saturday night. It was such a quick and easy thing. The only pain I had was after the surgery before I got home and fell asleep. They recommend that you go straight home and sleep for 4 hours as this is really the worst part. They give you some valium and you're good to go!! I woke up 4 hours later and could not believe it...I could already see everything.

I would definitely recommend Lasik to anyone, but do your research first. Go for a consultation. It is free and they really do give you all the information you could possibly need.

...I don't want to talk about it...lol

I've had bad eyes forever. I think last year I was suppose to get Lasik done. I went through the entire process and said things were good.

I was on the bed ready to get it done, when the Doctor said...hmmm I think we may have a problem.

I guess that was the first time the doctor had actually seen my chart and my eyes.

Apparently I was to high of a risk of the procedure not being 100% successful. I had a bad eye sight (I think i'm like -7.00 or something like that), I had huge pupils, and my cornea tissue or whatever was so thin.

So he said he could only guarantee 50% chance that I would have 20/20 vision, and that If I had it done, there would not be enough cornea leftover for another procedure if they needed to fix anything, or if my vision got worse over the years.

So I did the right thing and opted out. I was so sad though...all I ever wanted was to be able to see without glasses or contacts! But oh well, atleast the doctor was truthful and thankful for that. He was telling me that at other places, they probably would have performed on me without telling me this.

One day though i'm sure they'll have something to fix my eyes.

Lucas Mead has had it done (as well as most of his brothers).

got it done 7yrs ago, havn't looked back

back in 99, i was -4.00 in both eyes

with the procedure (which cost $1500 for both eyes), my life has improved w/o the need for contacts. the only problems i have now are that my tear ducts are not as effective, so when i wake up i have to lubricate my eyes with eye drops.

also... the procedure is not for ppl under 20yrs of age, since your eyes are still 'growing'..... since the 7 yrs, i am back to -1.00 for both eyes, and only b/c of natural aging.
