strange...
hmm try this..

go to "Start" --> "Control Panel" (Switch to classic view) --> "System"
--> "Hardware" --> "Device Manager" right click on all your cd/rw burners etc.. --> "Properties" select "Uninstall" all of the cd/dvd drives.

then restart your computer, Xp automatically plug & play's/installs all of your cd/dvd drives. then try nero again. let me know how it works! :)

Ok, did this, still nothing, like I said, the drive letter is coming up in my computer, and I'm able to put data/audio CD's and they will open up, but nero won't pick it up.

I tried two more burning programs, and neither of them will pick it up either, this is hopeless.

A little more info.

I have two cables, on the first cable, I have my hard drive, and my DVD burner, on the second cable, the only thing I have on it is the CD burner, think it will work if I swap the DVD/CD burner cables, or will this not make a difference?
Bidor
best thing to do is, put your dvd + cd burner on 1 cable. but before you do this check if 1 drive is master and the other slave. and on the other cable only connect your hard drive. then startup the computer, and do the same procedure over again in my previous reply. then it should hopefully work. :)

Here's another thing, take a look at this screen shot:

Does it matter that my CD burner says 0:0 and doesn't work, and my DVD burner says 1:0 and works? Or does that have nothing to do with it?
Sunsnail
I'd switch cables. Look around in your BIOS too for things.

no i dont think thats the problem. i think the problem is the cables. or as Sunsnail has mentioned to check the bios for any possible error/failures.
chimchim
i have the very same problem.... just let let the burner cool down for a little bit...then start again...once i let it sit for a few and then restart... it usually works again...
Bidor
i think he f*cked something in the Bios. :stongue:

Well, I decided to ease my frustrations on a little bit of green shrubery. I have come to the conclusion that I'm just gonna blow up the entire computer, and build a brand new one with dual-sli *drool*.

I'll probably just fix it tomorrow, when I care more. haha
