Today, I decided to organize my two blue boxes to 'break the monotony.' Or at least get some work done while I waited for the Memory test option I unwittingly selected from the Ubuntu CD to finish. It took a long time, so I thought I might as well.

Rummaging through the junk and scraps, I found a greeting card and a slip of paper within. It was a check written to me! For ONE. HUNDRED. DOLLARS! Oh, boy was I excited! Then I looked the date: 7/2/06. My excitement turned to anger and woe. It turns out I completely forgot this check over the summer. :(

As you all know, I graduated this year. A few days later, they threw a party for me and handed me obscene amounts of cold hard cash. But one of my distant aunts opted to give me a check instead. I promptly threw it in my blue box and never bothered to cash it. Damn it, why am I such a cruel dick to myself? I guess cashing a measly $100 check wasn't a top priority back when I was living lavish on the rest of the graduation money. Now I feel stupid, because I was "ballin'" on borrowed time, and it eventually came to a halt. :whip:

The summer was a blur and I barely remember my spending habits. Has anyone out there managed to forget this much money for no reason? I hope not.

Writing in a binder is so ING ANNOYING. My god! Don't you hate how cramped it gets when you turn the page? Or when you're at one of the beginning pages and the pen punches through the paper; forcing you to unbind a single sheet just to finish writing?

Along with that check, I also saw some early and recent photos of me. My life flashed before my eyes, and it was a sobering, melancholy moment. Almost sad, almost happy... but not quite. Sometimes my pictures are handsome, sometimes even I laugh at my gay face. Hopefully this will be corrected when I am filthy rich.

I'm not really sure why I posted this. You could say I posted it to 'vent' and read other stories of forgetting about money, but it's much more than that. And at the same time, much less. This isn't a topic with soul, it feels so empty. Maybe I need the textual interaction. Btw, I'm posting from Ubuntu. Works like a charm. Font sucks though (Times New Roman, I think).

Dont most checks have a 6 month time to post?

This wasn't a vent, just a public sharing of what happened today. Another little piece of my life, really.

My mother told me it's gone, plus I don't know if my aunt who I barely talk to would still be in that 'giving' spirit. She's not exactly rich herself. I don't really, really need it... so I'll just take this is as a lesson.

Fix your screen size or actually try to dive in before you ask for one. I write 'faster' than most people.

I know, I know... I'd like to, but I don't want to inconvenience her. I might try to cash it in. Should I call her and tell her what happened?

*is nervous*
Sunsnail
