ARTIST BIOGRAPHY - OLIVER MOLDAN (AKA PRAWLER)
Oliver Moldan, The Rhine River Man, has been appearing behind the decks at renowned dance clubs not only in Germany but all over the world for many years. Oliver's inspired mixing skills combined with his eclectic music selection have clearly defined his unique and trailblazing style. He has steadily worked his way up the ladder to be recognized as one of the leading dj's on the tech and progressive house scene and one major reason for this has been his residencies at the legendary Tribehouse in Dusseldorf and his residency at Exit in Lithuania. Oliver has shared the decks with many of the world's top dj's including Tiesto, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha, Deep Dish, and many more.
Oliver has gained huge international acclaim thanks to various dj mix cd compilations he has produced for Tribehouse, and also for the british magazine "M8", not to mention his double cd release "Global Groove". All of these mix cd's were recorded live, with no additional production techniques or editing.
Oliver constantly tours around the globe from Athens to Zurich, Ibiza to Miami, Athens to Bogota, London to Los Angeles, Vienna to Bangkok... His dj booking diary reads like an Atlas! He has appeared at world famous high profile events such as the VLovefield, Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto Part at the Opium Garden and at the Ultrafest in Miami, and BBC Radio One's essential party at club Space in Ibiza.
The name Oliver Moldan is also highly regarded both as a music producer and remixer, and his distinctive styles are constantly present on charts and heard in clubs all over the world. Remix projects have included tunes by Yello, Jimmy Van M, Fragma, Nalin & Kane, Deelite, Slam, Scanners, Phil K, Pete Lazonby, Christopher Lobsinger, and many more... They have all been subjected to Oliver's ineffable spirit, vibrant imagination and open-minded interpretation.
In his role as a producer, Oliver has made a deep impact on the progresssive house music scene. Single releases such as "Beauty in LA", "Cowboy Song", "Elephant Girl" and "Second Session" quickly established his name, then "Marracash" became the opening number for Tiesto's spectacular live shows and was heard by millions of people in 2005.
To date, Olivers name and work has been associated with the worlds most respected labels including Bedrock, Acute, Audio Therapy, Hope, Superfly, Kosmo, Bliss, and many more...
His Debut artist album "Skin Deep" is being panned for a late release in 2006, and is already being stronly championed by Tiesto, Nick Warren, Jason Jollins & Dave Seaman.
Oliver Moldan also records under the alias "Prawler" which represents the intriguing Darker side of his versatile, one could even say twisted, musical direction. Tracks such as "Disco ", "Deep Sense" and "Frisco" (Bedrock). For more than two years Oliver has been signed to Dave Seaman's label Audio Therapy and he released Solid club bombs like "Marracash" and "Phat Laces".

Jason was on the money last night at Love, played 2 of the best prog sets I've heard from him so far. also the coolest guy, very down-to-earth and friendly. def my fav dj for spinning house & prog at the moment, I'll take him anyday over hernan who's supposedly the only dj spinning twilo-ish prog these days.
Club Love is a cool place & I am totally surprised it didn't have more of a crowd. I've seen a lot of people at sullivan room which is small & more of a bar, I wouldn't go to that venue again although names like quivver & fortier have played there recently. however, I would go see those guys or anybody else play at Love. their sound system just blew me away! if my ears didn't deceive me, I would say it's the best sound I've heard in a club since the phazon system of twilo days. the bass is smooth & rich, just perfect. the sound system is so good it could make me appreciate electro, which is saying a lot-cause I hate the crap out of electro. friendly staff too, from the doorman to the coatcheck girl & bartender. def a venue I will go to again.
Prawler played a good set, although just 90 mins long (!) he looks eerily a lot like dave gahan from depeche mode, but his set rocked, starting out with dark breaks and transcending into some bouncy house. a good night at a good club with good dj's, although it was more empty than it should have been.. |
