Hey boys and girls, here's my new uplifting trance tune
[p.e.g] - starbuck (original mix) *link updated 12 dec 2006*
Note it's dedicated to the new starbuck, not the old one. Although Dirk Benedict was a good starbuck he aint' got nothing on Katee Sackhoff :tongue3
Still have to rip some kara samples from bsg but the mix is pretty much done so if you've got suggestions, comments, hatred etc please let me know!
I hope you enjoy the tune and have an awesome christmas break :D |

By pure coincidence driving in to work today I was thinking about firing off a PM to see if you had anything new in the pipeline :) :tongue3
I'm around 5 mins into the track & enjoyed it so far. Wasn't expecting that first mini break, I thought it sounded pretty cool.
Keep up the good work my man & thanks for the track :) Hopefully I'll get chance to use this if I can just find the time to fire up the decks sometime soon.
edit heard it all the way through now & this one's going home with me. Cheers |

good start although the part at 1:00 sounds like a double beat its hard to keep concentration on the track with that bit.
the bass sounds very tiesto his remix of silence comes to mind.
breakdown im liking nice melody you got. a bit disappointed with the lack of drive after the breakdown usually you do this very well. maybe add a sub bass to the track.
i like the sounds you have in it but i think you could create more drive in it. if it had a good drive it would be good to have a mix with.
good luck and let me know when you update it. |

| I like the idea, especially the main melody/harmony (as usual, I might add ;)). I'm afraid there are some problems in the sound department, though. The mix seems to be too muddy, it requires much crisper highs and some of the instruments should be more seperated from each other. Leave the track aside for a while and pick it up again in a week or two. I'm pretty sure you'll know what to do to make the track perfect :) |

Hi pho mo
Don't know if it's my equipment our my ears, but there seems to be tiny parts of clipping, especially in the beginning and the break parts. A hint to much input form master mixer to compression maybe...
As of the track I can't give other then a big 9 out of 10. As I probably said for the entieth time, I'm a sucker for tracks that allows the listener to fill out the "not heard" for themselves (hope you all know what I mean with that).
Good work, keep it going.

Hi mate,
You did a nice job with this tune. the percusion is well done...pretty awesome. Love that short synth riff. I dont like those pads when they aren't cutted by the cuttof freq Filter. In the break the pads are nbbetter. still loving that synth riff when it comes back everytime in the track. Maybee drop off that sawy lead and replace it for a more squared synth....dont know for sure but i think it will give the track more atmosphere.
So after this shout i have to say that you did a very nice job and a i realy enjoyed this one.

A really nice melody and feeling, think it would do with a bit more energy tho. But i like it! well done! :)

Hey great track. Sounds like it's compressed too much perhaps, just seemed like there was a loss of dynamics, or perhaps it's because there's a limiter and it's limiting some of the clips.
hope i helped somehow
cheers for the tune |

Thanks a lot for the feedback, it really helps :) I realise the mix is very full-on compression wise etc., but that was kind of the plan - this songs needs balls of steel as hard as starbuck's :D It's not meant to be a subtle tune. Crank it on speakers not headphones is my advice.
Having said that, I definitely agree about the lack of energy, especially after the breakdown so I'll work hard on getting exactly the right groove there - pretty important bit that! There is a sub bass there, but I pulled it down because it was drowning the rest of the tune, maybe i can automate it up just in that section, i'll try it.
I've posted an updated mp3 anyhow, same link as in the first post. I fixed up the delay and some of the notes on the melody, it was really getting dragged down and muddy - so that's done. Also I've tweaked the highs and eq'd the mix a bit.
There'll probably be another revision coming soon, thanks for all the help :D |
