Are there any burners on TA? (people who went at least once to burning man festival). I searched and didn't see anything.
It's the single most important event to mankind that happens every year. You may not agree with that statement, but anyone who has ever gone to a burning man agrees. Every 25,000+ people that go every year, all claim it has changed their life forever. That's why we form regional communities around the world for people that went ("burners") to stick together and have our own smaller events. This is why I'm sure there must be at least some on TA. I can also understand why they are quiet, BM caused me to be pretty quiet all these years on TA. So with that said, come on out of hiding! Where are you guys? Speak up! |

| I went for the first time this past year (2006)!!! There are no words that can do justice to the atmosphere of Burning Man. 38,000 of the coolest people from all parts of the world. No cash except to buy coffee and ice, everyone trades or gives whatever they bring. THE most spiritual city of people. I wish I went when Tiesto and Oakenfold spun at the Opulent Temple camp. I heard Tiesto wasn't invited but actually requested to spin at that camp because he wanted to go to BM. I recommend everyone going to BM at least once in your life. |

unfortunately TA isn't the greatest place to find burners. This year was my 2nd year burnin. All I know, is that it's going to be reeeeally difficult to plan anything else for any other Labor Day weekend, hehe. I agree w/ everything that's been said above me...it's truely a life changing experience. But I also think it's not for everyone. Myspace actually has a pretty big BM community if you wanna check it out ;)

All kinds of music. Although there is a lot of EDM, you can find basically every type. |

another reason i brought this up, is that it seems trance is disappearing from clubs fast all over the world. but one place where trance is very much still alive, perhaps more alive every year, is BM and smaller regional BM events. ive been to a few smaller regionals, and the number 1 main music that just keeps truckin all weekend long, is tribal trance, or "temple trance". ive never heard this type of music anywhere else EVER. it seems like this unique flavor of trance is exclusive to only these events. the producers are complete unknowns except only in this community.
it popped in my mind because there have been comments on TA that tribal trance doesn't exist. indeed it does, and i will post a sample later tonight. i like to call it drum circle trance, since it seems like its designed to accompany drummers and fire performance artists. |

The last two years I've attended Burning Man the music has changed. The weird thing about it is that just about everyone you talk to says something different about the music there. For me, in 2005 I found psy trance more than anything. And this past year for 2006, I found a lot more house and progressive. It's almost as if you'll find whatever your lil heart desires out there hehe.
BM most definitely has an appreciation for trance. And honestly, since a large percentage of Black Rock City's population are hippies, I can see why it stays alive there. Trance is the "happy" EDM. And most of the older generation hippies don't really know much else in the way of EDM.
Since BM has started to collect a wider age range of burners, I've definitely noticed a more diverse amount of electronic music.
There's something bigger than music to experience at BM. Eventhough music makes a HUGH impact on the event, it's still not the biggest thing there...in my opinion, of course :p |

| I really hope to attend this next time it comes around. The whole idea of a temporary community where we barter for food and drugs fascinates me. Sounds like paradise. |
