Heya folks, I'm working on a track right now and monitoring it with my MD's headphones... Anyways the thing is, that when I listen to it on the headfones it sounds quite good but when I unplug them and hear it from my steroe, I can barely hear any Kick drum... :(
What's the problem and which one should I choose to monitor my track?
Thanx a lot! |

headphones are usually better than stereo's for mixing....those big headphones tho not them walkman ones |

I've got big ones but they kinda suck:
Do Sony MDR V-380 make good monitoring earphones? |

ask some dude here who knows everything about headphones and brands, it ain't me anyways. But I find a lot of headphones handy. |

Gluegun knows everything about headphones, try asking him in the DJ forum.
BTW, headphones aren't as good as real monitors for mixing... |

you probably can barely hear the kick drum cause your stereo monitor speakers dont have enough bass. But.. if you listen to normal songs, and you can hear it nicely, its probably the actual kick that is lacking in bass :p |

I have sony mdr-v600 headphones and I have the exact opposite problem. When I listen my song through my stereo the kick is huge and loud. After I get a new pair of deckz I plan on getting a pair of Sennhiser hd280's for producing and keep my v600's for djing... |

a stereo is made for nice sound playback, monitors are made for flat playback. Stereo's tend to give the low + super high a little extra, so keep that in mind when mixing/mastering on a stereo.
Just listen to other songs for reference as to how you should EQ your track. |

Gluegun said that v6 are good for monitoring and anything that sounds good on them, will sound good on everything, so trust them!
He said the HD-280 are superior in sound as well, though we'd better check on Head- Fi cause they're tight competitors and he couldn't tell which one's better.
As for me, with my MDR-380, I guess I'd better get either one of them... |

I'm getting hd280's for producing and dj'ing... they're flat, and they isolate twice as much as everything else |

Yeps. I'm locked on the HD-280 now! |
