I-pod problem

even if i delete every single file on my ipod nano, be it music, notes, or photos, it still shows around 300 mb used memory, which leaves me only with the remaining 6-700 mb for storing music/pics.

anyone know why this happens and what i need to do?

Have you tried loading up the ipod with more data than the disk says is remaining? I've seen that problem once or twice back when I worked as an ipod specialist, and it seemed to only be a problem with the ipod properly reconizing it's own memory, and once you stuffed in the proper ammount of data, it would fix itself (or after a reset). Otherwise try turning off the auto update in itunes as it occasionally screws things up. That's hoping it's just the firmware (and it usually is).

Worst case scenario would be a physical internal problem with the drive, in which case you'd have to deal with apple directly. Ipods are supposed to be garanteed 1 year. I hope you're still within garantee (but if I'm not mistaken, you have one of the old gen nanos).
