I heard a 2003 rank1 live set (Hypetraxx - Promiseland) with a farty bassline in it, so i made this:

btw, is it possible to decrease individual notes with z3ta in cubase? I played with teh velocity in the automation lane, but to no avail. |

decrease the velocity? |

Do you mean decreasing the volume, or what? Most VSTs allow you to route volume to note velocity. |

yar, me worded it badly, I forgot the term, but there is a technique of decreasing the volume of bassnotes on the kick, I'd love to do that using the velocity of each fart note.
wouldn't it be better to high pass the note a bit rather than decrease the volume while the bassnote is on a kick? |

Probably yes, if your goal is to reduce problem frequencies to avoid clipping. |

playing with the velocity of some of the bass notes could work.. but sidechaining would be prime and would really make that bass pump with the kick.
oh and you probably have to route velocity to amp volume in zeta, but really sidechaining is what it needs.
you can pm me if you need vsti's or help setting it up. |

Danke mysticalninja, I still need to download one of those free compressors. sidechaining is tight, i like the sidechaining in Elevation's Ocean Rain.
If anyone has any rockin/zippy saw basslines, post em! |
