HI guys. Iv got one question.

If found some really great mash ups, bootlegs etc. But there is no chance to buy it on cd or record. Maybe there were not pressed or something like that, because I cant even find any info. at discogs about them. Something like -

16 Bit Lolitas vs. Motorcycle - Deep Breath Love Over Sedna
Ronski Speed vs Oceanlab feat. Justine Suissa(EOS Satelite)
Roland Klinkenberg vs Holden & Thompson - Bounce At Nothing

and many more.

And now i'v got a question - can I burn them on cd and play at the gigs ? Or it will by illegal ? How dose it look like ? If something weren't pressed on label so Can I play it legally or not ?

Better burn one track on cd or few tracks ?

What are U thinking about that ? (PS. Sorry 4 my English)

If you're going strictly by the book it's illegal, but I don't think many are going to care, really.

do the DJs who create mashups take permission of the artists and labels whose tracks they use ? i think not.
I believe mashup is more of a way to express the creativity of the DJ. Make your own. :D

The only way a mashup could possibly be illegal is if the person that made the mashup made money by selling it without going through all the proper legal processes for licensing of the original material used. If someone makes a mashup and passes it around for free for random personal usage, then I see no legal issue.

Thank god for once in the past couple of months someone asks a logical question that someone else hasn't. I'm pretty sure none of the artists really care, except if they are anal about everything anyhow. Personally, I would only care if the mash up had included one of my songs that was NOT released and a digital release site had the mash up and was making money of the mash up without giving me a cut. That is the only logical way I can think of someone really taking offense to it.

Copyright covers the act of distribution, be it for profit or otherwise.

So it is illegal.

But who gives a in the case of mashups?

And what is 'random personal useage'?!?!?!

Mashups are so terrible they should be illegal.

That's what I figured, that or if you're stupid enough to try and copyright it lol
