Exactly! I'm running the compressor over the whole mix and I usually set the threshold in a low level.:( Maybe this is one of the reasons why my horrible compression.
Thanks a lot for the advise, Illumin! I'm learning a lot about mix;)

Hey

I haven't heard this track yet but just thought I'd give a bit of info on kick drums.

Find a track in the genre you really like, put it into Soundforge/Wavelab and cut only the kick drum off it. Cut a kick at the start or at the end of the track so that it's a clean kick with no other elemenents in it.

Put your new kick into a new track in your sequencer and add a compressor (adjust your compressor to get the pumping sound)and EQ, don;t touch the EQ yet though.

Add another kick with a higher frequency below it. Put a compressor and EQ on that one too.

Once you have all the elements of your track together go back to the kick and mess around with the EQ/compressor settings on your kick drums until you have the right punch and blend of frequencies.

Remember a kick is easier to change than other elements of your track so always leave that until last.

Get PSP Vintage Warmer as well - try using that on your final mix and adjust the drive and EQ settings accordingly.

hope any of this helps - good luck and keep the energy real ;)

i would love to hear a better quiality mp3, had kinda trouble hearing the overall proudction qualtiy on this one.. Pretty nice what i could hear tho. I would maybe change the synth that plays the main lead as it didnt really have that much to it imo... give it some more crispness.. i dont know lol.. Only thing I didnt like was the climax.. It didnt really sit right, would love to hear a little more complex buildup to give the takeoff some Pow lol.. anyways, keep up the great work :D

Hi, djms

Many thanks! Your comment is really apreciated. ;) I have heard about this way to get a good kick but I have never tryed it. I suppose mixing different kicks to get a good one is easier than mixing different channels that include, for example, 2 different leads.
Well, I must confess I'm afraid of the distortion; I suppose I'll have to use properly the eq and compressors.:nervous:

dj_alfi, if you're interested, I can send you my track in a better sound quality (lower compression).;) I have many doubts about the main lead; maybe its sound is too ridicilous.:(

Once again, many thanks for your help and comments. You all are really! kind

Well, this is just my opinion but I think there are fantastic trance tracks (not mine, of course) where you can listen to great leads that aren't the typical supersaw ones. I'm sure you'll enjoy them! Just try to listen to;)

Hey Iris,

Listening now...

nice, smooth intro. bassline is nice.
I like the melody that you use with those leads on your break down, really smooth also.

hmm, but your main part...I was hoping to hear the same pattern of leads that were in your break down. Your break down was really awesome. It made me want to hear more of the same thing. If you have a chance to modify this, try using the same pattern in your main part. So whatever was in your break, move it to the main part with the kicks. The way you have it now, I feel like there are too many notes, no room to take in the melody.

But overall I think it's a great remix.

take care..

Hi marcusk!

It's curious cos when I made the main melody I was really worried about its notes. I though they weren't enough to create a cool groove and probably I made too many.

Thanks a lot for your comment! I'm learning a lot with this post and that's fantastic!:D

Nice remix, I like it. Break part is awesome and I also like the intro. I can agree with previous comments about having the mp3 with a better quality and maybe choosing a different kick so it can fit well with the track but honestly I think that is no problem so far. I like the synths you used. Good remix, keep it up.

Peace...
