Ok so...
There will not be a huge review from me like usual. There won't be any raving Erika going on and on about how much I love Steve Lawler's music and DJ sets. And there definitely will not be any OMFGGGGGG BEST NIGHT EVER remarks.
Sadly (and I cannot believe I'm gonna say this) Dec 31st 2006's set from Steve Lawler was the worst one I have ever heard from him to date.

I got there at 5am. Thanks to Brendan + GIRLFRIEND (yes, girlfriend :p) for coming over around 2am. We caught a cab and met up with Bertuzz; we were on the floor at 5am...Lawler was already on. I heard Sexyback within minutes and I got really happy lol...Then, well, I mean...his tracks were pretty stellar as usual...But alot of them were pretty old (he played Bleeep (Original Mix); I heard that same track at NYE 2006 at Aria). Nonetheless, there WERE some new tracks I've never heard from him before, and I was impressed with them. Lawler's track selection has always been one of the #1 reasons why I like him so much. Anyways...I thoroughly believe that this set could have been saved IF he would have played his 6 hour set AS SCHEDULED & PROMISED by many people.
At 7:20am, Lawler gets on the mic, thanks MTL and wishes us all a happy 2007, etc...And then he says bye-bye. I was like WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, not again :(:(:(:(...He did this last year too!!! (For those who recall him leaving Celebration at least 1.5 hours earlier than scheduled). So I run up to the booth to see him b4 he jets off to TO and he recognized me (yay! lol) and remembered my name (yay) and whatever, we chatted about pretty interestings things concerning his bookings and which venues he'd love to play (and ones he won't ever play hahaha) etc. He really enjoyed his time at Circus (but less than his time at Stereo :p) and he mentioned that he felt wierd about the Tribe set simply because he's used to playing bigroom gigs for NYE...Anyhow, he was very kind and welcoming as usual, just a really pleasant dude overall...So ya he told me he got on around 430am. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
WHY THE DID HIS INCREDIBLE DJING BUTT LEAVE AT 730AM?!?!??!?!?!?!
3.5 hours before scheduled ending time?!?!?!
I really want some answers. I'm so shocked I'm saying this but this was the worst NYE for me thus far. 6 hours of Lawler would have made it the best, or one of, I'm certain.
...
Nice seeing all the peeps who were there from TA (not many at all). The placed was packed and hot, usual Circus crowd...I left at 9am...Cuz you just do not put Derrick Carter, who is great but didn't do it for me musically at all due to the fact that he was put immediately after...Steve ing Lawler. That's backwards. I for sure would have enjoyed Carter much more if he were placed before Lawler or even better, in the other house room, as scheduled. You go from banging basslines to saxophones? At 730am? When everyone is CLEARLY going insane for the current DJ? Bah, aiight...If you say so.
Maybe Steve was tired and that's why he left early. But still...I was sooooooo disappointed and somewhat upset. I still am. Oh well, I know he'll for sure be back and it'll hopefully be better and like he was every time I've seen him before.
Hope you all partied hard :) I love you all, best of everything for 07 :D

At least you got 3 hours on 5! You would have been even more pissed if you got a 1.5hr /6 like @ Aria 2-3 years ago.... ;-) |

But since I was on a vacation things were diffrent for me. Everything was new and I've had enough from TO Clubs needed a change and Circus Gave it to me :)
Next time I hope I get to meet some of :)

He was scheduled to start at 5am and finish at 11am.
He got on at 420am and off at 7am :(
