ok i dont kno if anyone went to the show tonight but i did and holy , i could NOT stay longer than 1 hour in that place because the sound system was HORRENDOUS. it hurt my ears so bad and i was wearing mothering earplugs...and just to make things worse, BN start playing a live indie rock set, and i'm like "where the am i, at a screemo show or what????????" they were just singing bad music with a live band.. i was like "wtf peeps, where da minimal at?" but it didn't matter anyway, cuz studio b is beautiful in terms of decor (and friendly staff) but has no punch (in terms of sound system.. goddamn bass is non existant.. i was pissed, good thing we only paid 8 beans a piece... :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: )

ended up @ cielo for willie graff... can this guy RIP it... he knows how to work a crowd like a pro.. what a dj.. i've never heard such boring songs turn into ing masterpieces before.. (Y)

Noooooooooooooo!!!!!! :(

Guess last night was the one time my arriving late to everything paid off. I arrived at around 12:40 and to my surprise a live screaming rock band was playing just as you said. Of course, my initial reaction is W...T...F  . I started asking the staff if maybe someone had spun earlier on in the night or if someone was set to spin later on and of course they all looked at me like :conf: 'What the f**k is this fool talking about?'. I started walking around the place thinking about the 2 hour train ride back to the Bronx that I would have to endure when the music stopped, the live band packed up and left.

Boys Noize started spinning at 1am :eyespop: !!!

His set was in' sick!! !! I wanted just about every track he spun. To my surprise, some of the screamo kids helped me ID quite a few of the tracks, and all of them were singing along to all the tracks that had vocals. Most of them were actually there for Boys Noize, wtf twilight zone??

He spun some great electro/tech-house, and bass thumping techno. Chatted w/him for a bit at the end. Sucks that I was there by myself w/all the rockers. Would've been nice to have another TA around. I enjoyed myself though. Really sorry you missed it. I'll put a video up shortly  .

guess i'll try to put up a few more later on. i didn't really have enough memory card space to record all the tracks i wanted to. there were soo many good ones :tongue2

Some notable mentions:

Daft Punk - Technologic
Kaiser Chiefs & Boys Noize - Every Day I Love You Less and Less
Bloc Party - Banquet (Boys Noize dub mix)
Prodigy - Breathe
Candidate - Anticipation
Tom Neville - Sick
MGB - New School Jack

and so many more. Wish I could have recorded the whole thing.

uh, let's talk in 10 years when you can't hear someone screaming through a megaphone 10 feet in front of you. and for your information, i *do* listen to the system for a few minutes without the plugs, just because i like to see how the system is period. i'm tempted to take my earplugs out all night at places like cielo, where the sound is just luscious and smooth.

the opening DJ (before the rock set) was bad enough to begin with but that's besides the point. there was NO bass in that space.. too bad bc it's more than obvious that they spent all the money on getting the club to look beautiful but neglecting to spend it on a good system. apparently you have no clue what good sound is at all.

I didn't go to summerstage. I went there after seeing Vic @ Element.

Yeah man you really would have. I'm definitely gonna have to catch another one of his sets overseas. He said he only comes to NYC every year, year and a half.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure he spun 'till 4 or 5am which made for kind of a short set and really left me wanting more b/c of how great it was. I headed to Love right after, met w/some random ppl and went to Shelter. Just didn't hit the spot though lol. I think I really just didn't wanna deal with that train ride back home lol.

Here's a short clip of the track Boys Noize encore'd with. The track was hilarious. Straight out of an 80's afterschool special. I'm sorry I didn't record long enough for the bass and instrumentals to drop because it really was a crazy track. After hearing the entire thing through, the vocals sounded like they might actually be cut from an old tv show or commercial. I know the clip is short but does anyone recognize the vocals at all?

:wtf: :stongue:

He refuzed to ID the track for me because it's unreleased and he wasn't supposed to be in posession of it, or spin it live. He just gave me the artist name and said it was a new single. Guess I'll have to wait and see lol.
