So what did you guys do growing up? Open gifts midnight xmas eve or go to bed then wake up and open gifts xmas day?

We would always stay up until midnight. I could never go to sleep knowing that I could open them up sooner :)

I would open the gifts on christmas morning. sometimes my lil' sis and I would wake up so early it would still be dark out, then we would get all hi n hyper on chocolates and spin around, play with the cabbage patch dolls and what not....

it was fun. Now I sleep until about 10am, open gifts with the parents and sister (my grandma used to come - but she passed on this year:() anyways, we will open gifts have a brunch that makes us feel full for the entire day until its turkey/get drunk time!
I love christmas so much - I especially love seeing all my family:)

p.s. I have been a nice girl so this is what I want

My family and i havent done gifts in 4 years or so... but my parents give and give and give to me, and they take lots of holidays, which all in al is way better than an xmas gift.

tis the season for secret santas and xmas gift exchanges with other halves.

The tradition in my family has always been the same. My dad is an only child, and my mother has two siblings whose families both lived in close proximity since I was born. So every Christmas my brother and I would open our presents from "Santa" in the morning, then we would relax and help with dinner etc. and my mom's family would all come to our house. We would eat a big dinner and then open presents from all of us at the same time. It's not as big of a deal now, but when my brother and I were kids it was so hard to wait that long!!

Christmas eve is when we opened gifts from family, Christmas morning from Santa.

It's been a tradition to go to my grandmother's for dinner on christmas eve, go to church at 11 pm, and run home at 1 am, ripping the wrapping paper to shreds to unfold our presents :)

This hasn't been the case in the last few years though...as I no longer attend church because of my beliefs...and the xmas eve outings at my grandmother's has turned into a day of family dramas, disputes, and talking....yay for elderly portuguese women with nothing better to do  lol. This year I'm visiting fam in the States :)

christmas eve is for watching national lampoon christmas vacation and then maybe going to midnight mass at this gorgeous old presbyterian church (even though we're catholic and not practicing, a family friend is presbyterian so we go with him). it's not so much mass as just a great choir singing the classic christmas carols in this perfect old christmas decorated, dimly lit old church. it really does give you that warm fuzzy feeling.

christmas day is for presents and the big family dinner. when we were little, we'd set the clocks ahead a few hrs so we'd open presents at like 6am instead of 8am. haha...the parents never really caught on, but now we value sleeping more so it's more like 10 or 11am :p

We always have and always will open everything on Christmas morning. It's the only way.
