The Perfect MC?

My vote goes to MC Conrad..

He's most often found alongside LTJ Bukem.

He's not one of those over intrusive "let me whore myself" MCs.

He's really just the perfect compliment to LTJ's atmospheric sound.

Agree?

Love this MC!

Take your pick. :p As for live MCs, I have no idea. I don't listen to livesets much nor go to places with MCs.

As far as live sets go... I'd rather not hear any MC at all ;-) So any MC that is as silent as possible gets my vote. I don't mind an MC who introduces a DJ, but when they won't shut up, they don't get me energized, they distract the hell out of me. I've never been to a live event, so I'm not sure if they're more effective in person, but damn are they annoying in sets.

agreed. i was just listening to LTJ Bukem's essential mix from '95 and MC Conrad's contribution was suprising. you can get that set at a german site..

just search google for "dnb sets".. it's a german site by that name.. then just search for LTJ Bukem and you should find it.

it's a good listen.. definitely the best of drum and bass.

The most annoying MC I've ever heard was during Roog & Erick E's live sets at Sensation White 2006. During the video (respectively called 'The Ultimate Sensation White 2006 Video') he just keeps shouting out random things like, "Here we go, "Jump around" etc. Their sets run from about 10 minutes (after the intro) to about 90 minutes into it when Tiesto does his thing... then finally you can listen to the music.

I guess it probably is better at the event, since the music probably drowns out a lot of the sound -- but with headphones, the voice-over is just annoying as hell. It's especially bad when the MCs try to sing along with a vocal track. WTF?

there's some good mc's in the hardcore/d&b scene in the uk, although many suck. Having grown up on the old rave scene though, I've developed the ability to hear the music & not the mc over the top.
