Saw about a 9 minute video on this on youtube. Looks like it will talk about when he started out in Detroit and when he was known as Plastikman and the parties he would throw. Looks pretty neat, I might get it myself.
When I go hom, if I remember, I will try and dig up the video I am talking about.

Slices Special "Pioneers of Electronic Music" Vol. 1
A documentary film about Richie Hawtin
Release Date: October 27, 2006
With Slices, 'electronic beats' presents a quarterly DVD electronic music magazine showcasing various artists and labels in extensive presentations.
The launch of this new DVD special series, Slices- Pioneers of Electronic Music celebrates in detail the life and work of prominent artists or pioneers in the global electronic music scene.
The first edition (Part 1) is a documentary film based on electronic producer, performer and industry icon, Richie Hawtin. The film draws from the important stages and events in Richie Hawtin's personal and artistic life, revealing the journey of an introverted and transplanted computer-minded teen that develops by way of Detroits radio and records fueled by pure driven passion into a successful techno-entrepreneur and global DJ entertainer.
Slices examines a career that has now spanned almost twenty years, exploring his role in the Detroit techno scene, co-founding and establishing the legendary Plus 8 label with John Acquaviva and the international cult that sprang up around his distinct alter ego, Plastikman. Friends, family, colleagues and Richie Hawtin himself tell their stories relating early DJ experiences, his first encounters with role models like Derrick May and Jeff Mills, his move to New York City and then later to Berlin, and much more.
Assembling an extensive archive of previously unpublished photos and exclusive interviews, the film provides an extraordinary insight into the life and career (so far) of one of the most successful activists in techno history: Richie Hawtin.
With Statements from: Richie Hawtin, Mr. and Mrs. Hawtin, Matthew Hawtin, John Acquaviva, Karl Kowalski, Derrick May, Sven Vaeth, Jason Huvaere, Mad Mike Banks, Clark Warner, Amir Daiza, Daniel Miller, Scott Gordon, Mike Himes.
