lol - no.
I think it's pretty clear what I was trying to imply; Hell dude, even I thought I was on there too frequently and abusing my privileges so I took a break; And I never played more than an hour and a half, if that.
All I threw out there was my point of view on the issue, it's clear Jake didn't share it, no big deal :) |

OK so I'm going to set up a website to handle people using my server for broadcasting.
I need some basic rules on who can use it though.
I think only TA's (and the occasional friend) with 500 or more posts and 6 months. Basically you have to have custom status. This will prevent n00bs from signing up just to get free shoutcast servering. :p
Also I'm going to try to make it automated for sign up. You put in your username (and probably your userid, its probably going to be hard to derive that easily from your username).
Then when you sign up it will check your posts and sign up date, and if thats good it will send you a PM on TA to authorize your account. That way its only TA's using it (though you can let friends use it, but TA's have priority).
Also for booking a timeslot, you don't have to, but if someone else is scheduled to play at that time, they will have the option to boot you from the server.
To prevent tards from just making a timeslot to boot someone whenever I think I will put delay on when you can sign up (like 30 minutes, an hour?)
I have some other ideas but thats all for now, what do you guys think?
If people in Europe are having trouble streaming to the US based server I might buy a european based server (if I can get them to automatically relay one or the other based on who is stream to what it would be freaking sweeeeeet).
But yea, I have wanted to do this for a while (err years really) and I see an oppertunity to do it, I hope you guys can help out and play some good music. |

Sounds great mate... the beginnings of communal TA radio!
I think some guidelines on how many slots you can book per week and also some room to breathe with that, an option to set up a lengthier timeslot every once and a while... possibly in the form of a direct request to you. (we really like our marathons :p) |

Well thats where I hope the ability to play whenever comes in.
If you guys get into a marathon, and no one else is booked then you can play and play and play till someone elses timeslot comes up (and if they dont show, which will probably happen a lot) then you can play through their slot as well (though they still have rights for the server during their timeslot).
As far as slots per week, im thinking an hourly system will work, x many hours in y many weeks or something like that, I havn't come up with any numbers. I'd like to get input from you guys on that, like how often you'd expect use it. Of course there would be a max-length to a timeslot, but i'd like some numbers there too, as well as a good minimum length (i'm thinking 15 minute increments, maybe an hour minimum?)
I'd like to have this as automated as possible, I work 9-10 hours a day and people from all of the world will most likely use this, so I'd be hard pressed to do this at work (though I probably still will to some extent! :p)
Maybe some sort of moderater system... I'd like to avoid that though because of fears of abuse and bias, I don't know we will have to see how it pans out as the site progresses. |

I like a lot of those ideas. I think in the future rather than us "getting into" a marathon it would be cooler if we could just sort a big slot. Then there is no one else that wants to play or us getting pissed cuz we got booted (not that it wouldn't be the booter's rights, it would just still annoy us).
I know there are very few DJs who will be playing that'll be up for doing anything longer than 4 hours... but for those of us who do occasionally indulge in the lengthier sets, it would be nice to be able to do it "legit," especially since we are being proffesional/serious about the set. We aren't just throwing on random records for 7 hours. (So apologies if that's what it sounded like :p) "Special Requests" like this might make a moderator somewhat handy. |

Maybe a longer period for when you have to book your slot in advance?
I'd like to keep this as informal as possible... because some people like to just jump on when they have the urge to play (thats me most of the time).
So say it was 12 hours, if no one is on and there are no bookings for the next 12 hours then you could play 12 hours because the next possible time someone could book a spot is 12 hours from whenever.
If you feel you need to do a marathon set and someone is booked at a certain time then it would be up to you to talk to them to let you play...
I will probably put a limit on how many hours a certain SINGLE person can stream for, probably 8 hours.
I'm not sure on a lot of things still, im still thinking and atm its kinda hard... killer day on the mountain and my body and mind are ACHING! |

Wow.
Reading all that, I was sure I was going to be a bit frustrated that this was going to end up taking on too much structure and someone would end up pissed off - but I think you're really onto something that will stay primarily informal, and allow for the highest number/most diverse array of TA DJ's to play.
There are a few things I'd like to address (the largest thing is ensuring people don't end up having "shows" they think are regular) when I've got a bit more time, but for the most part, I'm quite impressed.
Edit: Though it's not as though I really have any say in anything. By "address," I probably mean "suggest." :p |

If no one's on... I think I'll play... :)
If anyone else would like to use the server. please let me know and I'll get off...
I know I've had more than my fair share. |

WTF, why won't it let me choose the "what you hear" option.
It only lets me use the bull line in... wtf is that! |
