Remixing tracks live is hardly lame. Also, moving crowds, being on children's lunch boxes, and generating bar sales & t-shirt revenue will get you anywhere you want to go....laptop or CD. The industry could give 2 sh*ts of what you do. They only care if it can be marketed.

People dance to music, not because of the media by which its played from.

Partier 01: Dude, this is best party ever!!!
Partier 02: For sure!!! The reflections off the optical storage devices he chooses to play from is amazing!!! I wish we could mute this Phazon sound system and just stare at them in silence!!!

I play CDs, but I can also appreciate someone interpreting and projecting music in a different way. Final Scratch, Serato, and Live are just other ways to express yourself. Since when has Creative Art ceased to be creative because of the method used?

No bullsh*t, I saw Matthew Dunn's friend play an Ableton set in Houston. I was sitting up in the second floor away from the stage (so as not to be mesmerized by the tech being used) and speaking only about the music played that night, it was one of the best sets I've heard from a coming-up guy in a while.

I can probably count the number of coming-up DJs that kept me for an entire set in 2006 on my left fingers.

I think I just think it's lame because Jake does it. I, too, have seen some incredible sets done on Ableton by local DJ's.

I'm sorry but CDJs don't keep ronald mcdonald from being lame he will always be lame.

And for the record Steve. I've never done a live set in Ableton. Its just that when I'm there screwing around with Serato and I look at my laptop I get the urge to disconnect Serato, feed my external soundcard into the mixer and have at it in Ableton.

And Ableton DJing is becoming widely accepted in many places. Texas lags behind a little bit but nothing major. The only thing holding Ableton back right now is DJs who are afraid it makes their penis smaller.

I think once you've learned to mix on vinyl, CDs, and the computer you realize hey there is a reason for the new technology. It's better.

Another thing about Serato is that most of the time you have all the time and space you need to setup which is very minimal, but every now and then you won't.
