Sorry, but everything thats on TV, in an article, or on the radio is a 'sensationalized story', news included. The plain fact here is that people CHOOSE to go on Dr. Phil- no one makes them call up and ask to be on the show, nor does he make them do anything demoralizing or self-harming to get on his show (see Jerry Springer for that). They come on for help, or to be an inspiration to others with a similar problem. While many talk shows will have a guest on air to tell their story, it ends there, Dr. Phil's show goes the extra mile for them after. Regardless of what you may thing about him, Dr. Phil does do a LOT of good for those people (providing long term after care & counseling) and donates to many charities.
Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that its always the BOYS that hate the talk show hosts? |

No, I do agree with you Nat. It's the same with the movie industry or anything else you have mentioned.
As for the point you make saying people choose to come on the show, yes I'm sure they do. But the reason for it? I'm quite sure a lot of the people on there want help. However I'm quite sure that a good hand full also want their 15 minutes of fame or a chance to get on TV.
I'd like to clarify something as well, due to your final comment about guys (or boys as you put it) not liking talk show hosts. I appreciate what Dr. Phil has done for these people. I understand he provides extra counsellings and is big with donating to charities. What I personally don't like is his on-screen persona. He's playing to the crowd with is in-your-face tell-it-like-it-is "I'm Dr. Phil" ways. He's got a way of acting just like any other talk show host when they're in front of the camera.
I'm the same way with Oprah. For her, I've never seen anyone interrupt people as much as she does. What she does off the show is great and I definitely commend her for it: I just can't stand her on-screen persona.
In regards for what you said though Nat, how do you think bringing the BumFights guy on the show, and immediately kicking him off the show before he got to the interview helped anyone or solved anything? It sounded like a publicity stunt to me. There's no way he didn't see the footage before-hand like he appeared to be so shocked about, because he gave such a warning to "keep your children away". So to just all of a sudden be disgusted and tell him to leave was quite fake. Why pay for the guy to fly there, be put up in a hotel, come on the show, and then kick him off, and have the footage released later? Doesn't make sense.
For the record, I don't agree with BumFights in the slightest. I've never seen more than a few-second clip on Youtube and I thought it was disgusting to demoralize human beings that way. But the guy dressing up to mock Dr. Phil was pretty funny. |

What this guy is doing, is the same thing that huge corporations that go into 3rd world countires and have horrible working conditions for 5 cents an hour. At least this dude pays the bum 20$ for 5 min of work.
How about jack ass, those guys hurt them selves for money, doesnt make it illigal.
This is the first time i heard about this bum fights stuff, and i think that it was an original business idea that the creater found. He saw the demand for violence and created a neish.
Would I do what he does ??? NO
But while you guys all bash him, he is sitting in his mansion and drinking margaritas. |

Honestly, I dont know why he brought him out on the show only to kick him off. I'm sure the guy's costume mocking him was as much of a factor, if not the real reason, why Dr. Phil kicked him off. Maybe the guy predicted he was gonna get kicked off and decided to come armed with whatever ammunition he could bring (the costume). To even invite him on to begin with was WAY below the shows standards, so whomever's bright idea it was, for whatever publicity stunt, is beyond me. |
