Damn sucks i missed it. I was giving mainstage a shot hoping for some suprise didnt get it. But i did hear the tents were great. Went to the tents during the day - great sound and design.
Yea posted on cj as well but its pretty dead on both cj and clubplanet. The POD moderator is a dick and people dont type cause he always removes . Its either for GG or deleted thread haha.
My roomate is one of Mansions owners sons so i will be able to get in to Mansion now being only 19 but besides that and Ultra in my case, and for those not 21 in general, Ultra and GG is all we have in getting a glimpse of the EDM scene. Its sad. Its as though EDM is considered club music and not just music. You wont see a rock group perform for a 21 and over crowd most of the time unless its a special event because music is appreciated by all ages. I consider EDM as f'n music not just to dance to. I wish the US would see it the same way. The alchohol thing doesnt seem to be an issue at concerts and what not. Why make it a deal at EDM events? Its not the minors fault who somehow got the drink, its the club. No need to make events 21 and over. If i can see my favorite rock artists perform why shoudnt i with EDM artists |

Hiram's right. The main stage(s) were weak. It was better in the tents. |

I agree. House tent had perhaps one of the best vibes, if not the best vibe.. that place was just going off!!..
Whatever happened to the Gatecrasher tent though like back in the days. |

And John Kelly, Scott Bond.. It may not have been the biggest or best organized, but to-date my best experience, together with Ultra @ the beach.. I was barely 16 years old, went alone, and wow.. ththat was something else. |

Amen. Benassi and Van Helden destroyed. That tent was bonkers :eyes:
I still remember when Armand sampled Coldplay - Fix you and the crowd went nuts. House isn't even my preferred genre of edm, but I could not leave that tent. Cox was also balls to the walls. |

As ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL (UMF), the nation's premiere electronic music extravaganza, rolls into its ninth year, its producers have announced it will expand into a two-day festival in addition to serving as the official closing festival for the Winter Music Conference. Set for Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24, 2007, UMF will return to downtown Miami's beautiful waterfront Bicentennial Park. Tickets go on sale today.
ULTRA's weekend kicks off that Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm and runs until midnight. Appearing over three stages is the festival headliner The CURE along with Tiesto (who is slated for a rare live performance), Deep Dish, Shiny Toy Guns and Miss Kittin. Saturday Paul van Dyk and other turntable titans Carl Cox, Erick Morillo, Danny Tenaglia and Ferry Corsten will perform over nine stages from noon until midnight. The complete line-up for both days will be announced at a later date.
"After eight years of ULTRA my partner Alex Omes and I felt we needed to change things up a bit in order to keep the festival new and exciting as we continue the growth we have been lucky enough to have had throughout the years," states producer Russell Faibisch. "By adding another day we felt we could offer the opportunity to enjoy live bands like The Cure, who are legends in our culture, while keeping true to our core audience and introducing them to something new."
Tickets for ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL 9 are currently only available as two-day passes at $99.90 for general admission and $350 for VIP, plus tax and fees. VIP includes access to multiple, strategically placed VIP platforms with preferred viewing of UMF stages as well as several designated VIP tents and areas. Additional VIP amenities include: express entry into UMF with separate VIP entrance, VIP bars with no lines, air-conditioned restroom trailer facilities and seating areas with couches. Ok - really like what there are doing here. They took note of the lack of trance from last time and the complaints. They did day one from 4pm not a whole day event and only 3 stages... longer sets i think they are trying to pull on day one. Then day two is the true past Ultra with Cox and PVD and such.
Hope the stages have a look to it and not just the metal box design for main stages not in tents. Spice it up. Add cheese - fireworks, foam, WAY WAY MORE LASRERS...multi colored (not just lights) etc. But hey, glad they made changes to the event to keep it alive. Hey, emo kids will have a glance at EDM, they might be converted - CONVERTING VEGETARIANS!!!!
My hope is Infected Mushroom at night!!! Always do that around the world, time for the states to recognize them as well as headliners. |

Because nobody wants to party with a bunch of 16 year olds on E. The clubs have to retain an element of class if they want the high rollers to come in. 18 year olds don't spend a dime in a club, and 21+ year olds don't want to party with young kids. From a business perspective its much smarter to do 21+. Only when your shows are severely lacking in audience would you open to 18+... in Miami... its clear they can fill clubs with 21+. |

i know that businiess wise - getting A management degree and finance. Thing is, its a shame in general thats how EDM is seen in the states. You got festivals and all age events around the world as any ohter music genre would but here it has an image attached to it. E kids, candy kids, shroomers, hippies, etc. Why wont rock bands have 21 and over events or even 18 and over if the promoters and venue want money to get people to buy drinks? Trust me, the clothing items that are so expensive dont make up for the amount of drinks people buy. Just think the genre doesnt need a scene to it or a tag, just take it as a different music category with artists and young children to adult who get inspired by them. , i was inspired to be a DJ and produce electronic music before being inspired to play a guitar (age 9). And no, thats no joke. It seems like it here in the states, but go around the world and EDM artists are the mainstream to many. I always wanted to see the artists i loved as a kid in this genre before they drop out and me not being the proper age limit to have the chance to see them.
Anyways.. WOOT for Ultra news.. and waiting on tickets yet again haha |
