since when is edm even promoted by ethnicity to begin with? |
This is what I was going to ask also.
I don't think this has anything to do with promotion. As Woody himself pointed out, there are Latinos who listen to trance/EDM, without much promtion. People don't listen to the music because of promotion -- they do because they like it already. If we're referring to promoting EDM parties, then the fans of the music will make a choice for themselves on whether to go out to clubs for their favorite music.
More people/hotties at the scene, the better. But I don't think there are less people in the scene due to lack of promotion in certain ethnic groups.
Woody, tell those people who lurk in the forums to come out and party with us!!! |

Why dont we promote EDM at death metal nights? Ruben??? |
Oh man!!! I could just imagine... Some huge drunk guy would slap the flyers out of Woody's hands and tell him to get that filth out of his face LOL. Most guys with pentagram and blasphame tattoos probably don't listen to Above and Beyond or ATB. Most regard it as music for homosexuals or euro-trash My favorite band is playing at Avalon in July '07, you should come by and promote :p |

Great idea, EDM should be promoted at the next Morbid Angle, Cannibal Corps or Obituary concert. |

If any of these people you talk about need to be reminded (promoted to)that there are EDM clubs which attract worlds top DJs, than I guess there is not much you can do.
The Super Estrella type listens to "MANA" and knows the concert dates, the names hell even the underwear color of the guys.
If the same fan was into EDM they can take the initiative and find an EDM club for one weekend and see how they like it.
EDM is not soo underground anymore |
Ya, exactly. That's what I meant to say in my previous post, I just didn't have time to type out the whole thing. :) |

I ran into some Mexican dudes in line that drove all the way up from Central Mexico to come catch Astral Projection at Avalon a long wihle ago. Now THAT's hot!

See, that's not always true. I play a lot in the latin scene. If you promote to the SUPER ESTRELLA Crowd, you'll find out they also listen to EDM. If you promote to the Power 106 or Latino 96.3 crowd, than you get the crowd you are talking about. But, honestly, I've been playing out a lot in the Super Estrella scene and most of the time I do a trance set with no problems! The crowd likes it. And yes, sometimes I have to throw in some cheese there but that's cuz they like those songs too.
Here's some of the songs that we played last night and the crowd went nuts.
Eric Prydz Vs Innercity - Good Life (Summer Edit 2006)
Eric Prydz - Voices
Supermode - Tell Me Why
Message In a Bottle
Tiesto - Traffic
Tiesto - Love Comes Again
Sergio Medez - Magalenha
The Killers - Mr Brightside (thin White duke Remix)
and off course, some spanish rock dance remixes like Soda Estero. |

A while back, I found this "Death Techno" compilation. Thrashing guitars, psy-like bass drums, and uh... lots of screaming. Go figure. |

Damn skippy my mate. But also there are people that are totally oblivious to music. They just turn on the radio and think this is what I have to listen to because everyone else does it. It's pretty ing ignorant and also they dont know how to network with people and communicate with people to find out new things, the kind of people that are just set in tunnel vision mode and dont know about many things. To find those people you would have to go to like a Super Market or a Grocery place to find them and get them to get their asses to the show that starts in 10 minutes. |

That's totally true. But all I have to say to those folks is, "Uh... Judas Priest?!" and they usually shut up.
