I have mixed feelings about Guy Gerber's set. It was good, but it just didn't seem like it fit the occasion. At the beginning, he was very Richie Hawtin sounding, but he progressed into song after song of very long, proggy, almost trancey like builds. They were good songs, but the crowd wasn't feeling it, and I'm not too sure how I felt about it in that kind of a club setting. It was a very good set, but it would have been more suited for an outdoor beach party, or something of the sort.

Next was David Duriez. He started off with a bang, and the crowd ate it right up. He played lots of banging tech house stormersIt was a great melange of techno, tech house, and a sprinkle of minimal.

I have been to two of Sonic's "new platform" Saturdays (Stacey Pullen/Gene Ferris and this one), and I am very, very impressed. Please keep it up! I was talking to quite a few Sonic regulars that were saying, "I've never heard anything like this at Sonic before, this is AWESOME!" I'm loving this return to the very thing that drew me to that space in the first place - fresh sound.

Pretty much exactly what we were talking about on our way home.

Had a great time at Sonic, music was very good, maybe not what i would pick to hear in a club, but it was a nice change

I picked this over Kascade since I needed to sleep before going out..no regrets at all.

BTW - I found the crowd to be great Saturday night.

As my first experience @ Sonic , I actualy had a great time "Music & Crowed" vice ...I was wating for this party for quite a while to see Guy Gerber (& ofcourse David Duriez after hearing his Radio FG set),and they did not disappoint me at all. I missed the first 30min of Guy's set ,to see Seb Fontain ,which was just wasting time and money,i did'nt really expect him to play "Put ur hands up for detroit" or some other cliche that u hear everywhere (i'll keep the rest of the review for it's own thread, but just to let u know u didnt miss anything if u werent there)...
Back to Sonic part of night : I actually really enjoyed Guy Gerber's set and i found it kinda fresh & different ,he dropped lots of pretty cool Techno ,Techhouse tunes ,which made my night.what i really liked about Guy Gerber after talking to him ,was that he was such a down to earth DJ and he really cared about the crowed...
I actually got a chance to talk to David Duriez before he stared his set too,and i asked him how ur set gonna sounds like, and he was like what u want to hear ? and i answered some Dark ,Techy,Trippy ,which i think he got it right away and dropped exactly what i wanted him to play...
BTW what was that first track that Jonny dropped ,it was fkn awsome ...
Overall i really enjoyed the party ,and Special thanx to SONIC promoters for such a great bookings ... (Can't wait for John Creamer and Behrouz)

Yeah, not too sure what it was but damn was it ever a solid track.

Glad I made it out to Sonic for a bit after a great night at Footwork, the perfect contrast to end the evening...enjoyed a bit of both Duriez and Gerber, and the music those guys were delivering deserved a heck of a lot more people in that room.

Thx again to those who I enjoyed the night with, you know who you are.

Was at Sonic for a few hours, had an OK time. Guy Gerber seemed to be hit and miss for me - had a few good tracks, followed by stuff that I just couldn't get into. Ended up leaving before David came on - I really wanted to stick around to hear him, but got a headache and tired so ended up hauling home.

Was an 'ok' night for me, but nothing stellar.

I dunno what it was about Gerber. I guess basically his programming was amiss. The transitions between tracks seemed really in slow to me and the set went nowhere. Perhaps I'm just REALLY anal, and forgive me if I don't explain this properly, but whatever he was doing with the volume levels of the bass and ...I dunno if it was actually the volume levels, or using filters or whatever...but the timing of it sounded off to me. It just didn't sound clean. Again, forgive my poor description, all I know is what I heard, and it sounded...unpolished...muddy.

Duriez on the other hand was crisp all the way through. That was the first thing I noticed about his set in comparison to Gerber, other than the sleazy dirtbag groove he layed out. .

Makes me wish I was a DJ so I could describe what I hear better, but I can really notice like that, and it truly makes a world of difference to me in a DJ's set.

I really had a kick ass time though. Thank ing God Sonic is bringing fresh sound to the city, and thank ing God for the stellar crowd that was out. I feel like a n00b all over again and I love it.

That morning was pure sex. I love being able to submit so easily on the dancefloor. I'm also glad I ran into Erika...if it wasn't for her I would have left!! Oh and thanks Jeff for the GL!

P.S. Dallas it's always so nice to see you. I don't bump into you enough. :)

I'm still horny. I get horny thinking about it. I want to do it over and over again. My bum and thighs are still sore, but I would do it again right now if I could. OMG.

I so wish I was there. Been playing a few of Duriez's tunes lately and I'm all over his style. But alas, I won't be working for the next 2 weeks so I had to think ahead, and save some money for the break.

Ah wells...maybe next time.

I gotta say though, that I'm really, really happy with Sonic Saturdays new direction. Finally you guys are bringing in some interesting names. This is how it should've been from the get-go. I look forward to checking out Sonic in 2007 :)
