I don't really want to do any heavy production, but I want to master and mix together multiple live instrument tracks that some friends are doing. I was wondering what program would be best for those needs, and keep in mind I have nil production experience, so am looking for something that is user-friendly and has a quick learning curve. Thanks as always.

Sound Forge will do what you want.

I should've mentioned I have a Mac. Also, even if it were for Mac, isn't Sound Forge more of a one-two track editing software? I need to be able to mess with many tracks at the same time.

Adobe Audition will work for you, then.
