Are Sony headphones really that good ?

I'm in a dillema of choosing between AKG, Sony and Pioneer.

What's your opinion ? (Suggest a model)

The Techs and the Sonys seem to get rated very highly all the time.

See if you can try both out. The Sonys are ultra light and ultra comfy - can't comment on the Techs.

I've never personally used them but people I respect have told me they rock the house.

I've used the Techs, the Pioneer 1000s, Sony 7506 and Sony 700s

IMO...

The 7506 are the best in terms of comfort and sound quality, the Techs had good sound isolation but it feels like putting on a damn football helmet everytime you mix :wtf: The Pioneers are nice but they seem to break fast and they are uncomfortable after long periods of time. The Sony 700s are just bleh...they feel like cheap plastic buckets and their sound is pretty poor.

I would have to dissagree on the Senheisser HD25 !

Imo utter pieces of E for what you pay... IF they were 1/4 of their asking price i would say yes, BUT you dont get what you pay for.

PROS - Awesome Sound Quality
- Little Fatigue on the ears
- Light weight

CONS - WTF so damn expensive !
- Very short, non coiled cable (offers no springyness, once its pulled taught, its taught, any tension will either pull headphones off head, damage cable, or move the mixer if pulled hard enough)
- Exposed wires, looks crappy and also opens up doors for greater wear on components due to the exposure.
- Breaks easily

I myself use Pioneer HDJ1000's, awesome sound quality however heavy and can cause fatigue on your outer ears when prolonged use occurs.

I have used HD25's and they are nice, but i wouldnt pay the money for them. My mate has a pair of HD25's and i have seen them go thru repairs, replacement of parts and they still play up to this day. I cant recall the amount of times ive been using them and one of the channels goes (either right or left cant remember) due to a fault in the wire which i blame on being exposed.

Go the sony i hear nothing but grace about them

:) hope it helps
