Hahaha, too bad they don't listen to trance in italy :(

As much as I know he has that nickname from childhood...

I heard Tiesto means "pot" in dutch... and that he got it from a pot-factory nearby...

Anyways...ive never liked "theme from norefjell" but i seem to be alone in the world with that point of view :p

give the guy some props!

Tiesto's name is synonymous with trance!

I always thought "Oakenfold" was a tight name.

PvD and AvB work good as abbreviations, but when you say the full name they sound awkward (Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren).

Tiesto is a pretty good DJ name. The bad ones are when they just use DJ and add their first name. Be a little more creative.

THere was a thread on how to pronounce DJ names a while back.
I think "tijs" was pronounced as "tays" or "tees"
ask a Dutch person!

There was also a thread about a Tiesto interview, which tells u how he got his name Tiesto.

Tiesto means flowerpot in Russian, and Dough in some other language.
kolkiewolkie
as first dutchy, I'm gonna try this....

if you pronounce tijs as ties you come pretty close but EVERY one will know you are american. same goes for tays/tais/tees (allthough these don't come as close as ties).

the problem here is the 'ij' ,which is relatively unknown in foreign countries.... mmmmmm it is like aye aye aye (in american raptunes...)

example: snoop dog - lay low (I don't assume you all know it, but I do)... snoop is saying something like: "... from the worlds most dangerous group, N doubleyou aye aye aye <<==that is it!)

greetz

ps: tiesto does not mean anything in the dutch language and is indeed a mix of tijs and a italian twist.

ps2: I personally LOVE the norjfall theme :)
