| Go to the Sullivan Room NYE party. It is house music but the crowd will be good. You should have a lot of fun. Sullivan Room is a lot like the old System Soundbar ;) |

Or she can come over to my place and let me bone her while her bf watches. What a way to bring in the new year!! |
Why dont you give her some advice that she is actually gonna use?
I am going out the 2 nights prior to NYE, and staying in with some friends for the night, so I am not much help, but I am with fran, the sullivan room party sound like a pretty decent time.
*plz plz dont go to times square.* I worked in a bar there last year, and its just pure ridiculous. It took me an hour and a half to get to the subway 9 blocks away, and I was getting trampled!!
:nervous: :nervous: It looks like fun, but only if you can handle a million people in a 10 block radius! |

yes i SECOND that notion...no times Square...i guess I would say GO and do it if its ur first time doing something like that...all i remember is getting STUCK on 23rd street a few years ago, TRYING to get to Times Square, and when you're moving only BECAUSE the crowd pressed up against you are moving, well that is NO FUN, esp on a freezing night. As a native New Yorker, I would not recommend going.
<-- still figuring out WHAT to do for NYE and the days before that, I got some friends from San Diego coming in on the 27th who are NOT regular clubbers although I'll probably take them to Sean Tyas at Sully on the 29th. that's about it. I think she is regretting coming here because initally she didnt believe me when I told her there was nothing going on this year HAH!! :p plus, I have to work all 4 days next week :whip: they are coming at a time where the city will be OVERCROWDED, OVERPRICED, and traffic is going to be SUPERCRAZY. I think they are contemplating taking a bus tour. well GOOD LUCK TO THAT i say. its better ON FOOT at this time of year... |

I am pretty sure we have decided not to go to times square.
But we still dont know what we're going to do instead.
Is there anything relatively cool to do, non-clubbing wise? Or cheap, but fun, restaurants/bars where we could go to eat and watch the ball drop, etc?
I just want something with a good vibe that's not outrageously expensive... |

^^ Inexpensive? This is the reason why people cant really respond well to this thread. This is the only time of year that a good amount of native New Yorkers stay in to party with friends, while the rest of the year we are out partying hard. Because NYC on NYE is just overpriced, overcrowded, and simply the last place I wanna be. There are a million places to go, but if you want cheap, you are gonna have to look reaaallly hard bc everyone jacks their prices :(
I will see everyone the weekend after for a year straight. This is my day off.
*In terms of bars, there are soo many I cant help you there. But NYTA does have a restaurant thread, and if you are looking for something specific I can help you out better. |
