Ok i am in the market for a pair of studio reference monitors for my home studio, i am looking to find a pair of nice active monitors so i don't need to deal with an amp.
My preference so far is in this order:
Mackie Hr824's msrp $679 for 1
Mackie Hr624's msrp $499 for 1
Alesis M1 active monitors msrp $499 for 2(pair)
Those are the best prices i've found new on those and have found hr824's and m1's on ebay for cheaper but i am skeptical of buying monitors over ebay and dealing with getting ripped off or the speakers being damaged.
So i ask all of you what your experience is with these monitors? Any suggestions on other active studio reference monitors i should check out? Or if any of you know of any shops stocking these monitors for less(possibly on sale) or know anyone selling any of them used?
I am also shopping for a good producing soundcard to work with but that is a whole other thread
thanks! |

Yes i am giddy as a schoolgirl after finding out about that pair for sale, i am going to go pick them up this afternoon :)
I think i found a soundcard that looks good to go with them as well, lots of 1/4" input/outputs as well as balanced XLR out which i could run into the XLR jack on the hr824's:

anyone heard anything about these sound cards? |
