You have some very neat ideas here. I really like the blissed out kind of "wall of distortion" thing you have going on in the first part. That's one of my favorite effects in any kind of music. I like how the strings sound against it, and I think the vocals work pretty well with it, too.
A few criticisms:
(1) The distorted part seems to be panned really weird or maybe clipping, since the left side is kind of getting cut out much of the time.
(2) The clap is really dry and generic-sounding.
(3) Whatever happens at 4:51 is way too loud and jolting. :wtf:
(4) I think you could cut at least a minute or so out of this without losing much.
(5) The melodies toward the very end (from after about 11:00 or so) don't seem to resolve too well and kind of leave things hanging.
I'd like to hear something like this played live in a set, because it's so much out of the ordinary run of production today and yet still very entrancing. Good work. |
