In fairness I can't see how a book can teach the skill of DJing though.

I'd still be really interested to buy the book and read it - maybe I'll stand corrected.

For those who really LOVE and CARE about music, I recommend you to read this book. To me, it is a GREAT book!

My point is, dont get caught up in the bull of peoples opinion and tranceaddict forum, read out for the fact!

my ex girlfriend bought me last night a dj saved my life and its a great read....very entertaining the style of the author. also its very thorough and a must-read for anyone remotely interested in the history of DJ'ing. if there was university history of DJ'ing course this would be the textbook.

it doesn't. it's a book about the history of the dj.

overall i'd say it's not brilliant a brilliant book, but still good. the first 100 or so pages weren't very interesting to me.

This is a great book. but i wonder why the authors diddnt really discuss about producing music.

it is said, what makes a GREAT DJ is collecting great music. Great DJ are not playing records, Great DJ are playing the dance floor.

in the book. there are a few explanation about producing music, and what makes me surprise is any great DJ doesnt have to produce music.

I think, these days if you want to be a great DJ, collecting a great records and playing the dance floor are still not enough. Any great DJ should produce their own brilliant music.

That's like saying, "If you want to wait tables, you damn well better be a good cook".

I would recommend his "How to read properly" and "Last Night a DJ saved my life". Two great books and without them i wouldn't be alive today.

No they made me understand the meaning and appreciation of the dj.
