Sarasota County holiday closings
STAFF REPORT
All Sarasota County government offices, including libraries and recreation centers, will be closed Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday for the Christmas holiday.
All county offices will reopen Tuesday.
Bus service will be on a normal schedule Friday and Saturday. Public buses will not run Sunday or on Christmas.
For more information on the Christmas holiday bus schedule, call SCAT at (941) 861-1234.
Residents who live in unincorporated areas of the county and are serviced by Waste Management will not have yard waste, recyclables or garbage collections on Christmas Day.
For residents whose regular collection day is Monday, solid waste will be collected on Tuesday. For residents whose regular collection day is Tuesday, solid waste will be collected on Wednesday. Wednesday collection will take place Thursday, Thursday collection will take place Friday, and Friday collection will take place Saturday.
Because collection times vary, residents are urged to place refuse materials at the curb by 6 a.m. the day of pickup.
The landfill at 4000 Knights Trail Road will be closed Monday, but holiday closings will not affect normal operating hours for Sarasota County’s chemical collection centers at 8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, and 250 S. Jackson Road, Venice.

City of Sarasota offices will be closed Friday and Monday.
There will be changes to the solid waste collection schedule on Christmas Day. There will be no solid waste, recycling, yard waste or bulk waste collection on Monday. Solid waste pickup will take place on Thursday. Recycling, yard waste and bulk waste will be collected Saturday.
