I was just wondering how hard techno/trance is. Like I mean the piano parts. Like if you have a synth, can it get really hard, or does it just really depend on what he person wants to do?

You should maybe try rephrasing your post, I found it quite confusing.
Do you mean 'hard' as in difficult?

I wouldn't say trance was difficult to produce in terms of the skill level and knowledge required, but it's not really about skill, it's about creativity.

Most trance melodies are very simple to play on a keyboard. The main obstacle to playing some of them would be speed.

ya sorry about wording that wrong. but ya I just meant is it hard. but you guys answered that so thanks! but does that bother you guys at all? How like theres not alot of skill or whatever required in making the music. Or does it not matter? I always thought of it just like a piano. Only difference is that theres alot more crazy stuff lol. But if you guys would, please reply on this and tell me what you think

thanks!:happy2:

There is not a lot of skill involved in playing the melodies, no, but technical virtuosity at playing instruments is hardly the end all and be all of music-making. Trance producers typically concern themselves with things (like synthesis techniques) that are pretty much irrelevant to "traditional" musicians. There is plenty of skill involved in getting to the final product (at least with the best producers), but there's a significant difference of focus.

Another thing to consider is that complex melodies often won't even work too well with really heavy delays and reverb, which trance uses fairly often.

That said, if more trance producers had an intense "traditional" music training in addition to learning sequencers and synths, it would only be a good thing.

As far as I'm concerned, if it sounds good to a person who the hell cares how much skill went into making it. Listen to what sounds good to you and you'll be happy.

Edit: That said, it's easy to make a trance/techno song. Making a GOOD song that people will enjoy, on the other hand, isn't quite so easy.

thanks so much guys! this seriously helped me out alot! So basically its as hard or easy as the person wants to make it. I really think trance/techno is an amazing type of music. Its really one of my favorites. Because the music makes u feel insane! O and one more question, could you guys maybe recommend me some really good trance/techno that has alot of keyboard and what not in it? Because that really is my favorite, with the synth and what not.
