Eleven50 is closing down for renovations and will probably come back as an all hip hop club, like all other clubs in Atlanta.

Eleven50 to spend half of 2007 in hibernation
Club will undergo renovations as part of new ownership

The ever-shifting nightlife landscape of Atlanta's mega-clubs will see another change on Jan. 1 when Midtown's Eleven50 closes down for six months of renovations.

The 6-year-old nightclub, which occupies a former theater auditorium in the rear of the historic Atlanta Woman's Club building, will receive a "full face-lift" at a cost of about $1.5 million, says Rachael Pryor, the club's director of operations.

Pryor isn't offering any hints as to the eventual look of the club, except to say that the outside "cabana" area will remain largely unchanged from a redesign earlier this year. One exception is that the upper patio is slated to be enclosed, she says.

With a capacity of about 1,500, Eleven50 is the sole remaining mega-club in Midtown, now Atlanta's hottest nightlife district.

When the club opened in 2000 in the space occupied in the early '90s by the famed Petrus, it set for many a new standard for chilled-out sophistication -- an Ibiza-style oasis in the heart of Midtown. For a time, it played regular host to some of the world's top touring DJs.

The club now has new ownership. "We want to show we're not just a techno club or a rave club or an A-list club," Pryor says. "We're aiming to broaden the spectrum of people that we appeal to."

One aspect of Eleven50 that won't change -- and one that clubbers never see -- is its double life as a rental facility. "About half our business comes from corporate events," Pryor explains. "No one can live off being a nightclub for very long."

here is what I read on another forum about the plans. I also read that Liquified will still be throwing events there once it reopens.:)

"the plans i have seen has the balcony wrapping around the dance floor more. The VIP booths are being put up into the balcony, they are making the dance floor one giant level floor. They are adding all new lights and a new sound system. The place is going to look great"!
Mr. Pink
i never got the impression the club was adopting hip-hop as its main genre....:wtf:

hopefully the club only gets better than what it is now, which is pretty ok in my book.

They should turn E50 into a gentlemens club...with a fantastic restuarant like the cheetah has ;)

That sounds good, but if they start having more of the DJs that took part in the horror stories I heard from the club (My brother used to be the sound engineer there), I'm going to blow.

this is rather interesting news. i could not see 1150, even in the slightest way, a rap club. blah??
