Jerky isn't so popular over here, I only see it here and there.

Violated cattle and salt mostly, a $200 a day crack habit is probably slightly healthier. :haha:

Well heck, anything that can do that to something the size of a full grown cow means no one wants their arse to go near where they make Slim Jims...

I've eaten Marmite before, and absolutely loved it. Suffice to say, it tastes nasty. :tongue2

Not an uncommon food, but weird nonetheless.

I'm vegan so I at a time ate many a thing tofu/soy, but after reading about studies about brain degeneration and estrogen increase leading to fatty breast tissue growth, I've reduced my soy intake drastically and have replaced it largely with rice products where posible. Soy technially isn't an edible food product, but the practice of fermenting soy makes it consumable. I happen to really like brags soy seasoning. Tofu is alright, a food source, it is best with seasoning IMO. As for the fermented soy, I can't see it as something that you could really get much nutrients from, rather the contrary, so it wouldn't be something that i would regularly eat.

There's a greater number of articles defending soy as a neuroprotectant rather than neurotoxic; the studies pointing to brain size reduction make sense as estrogenic compounds tend to reduce the size of the brain in males, but that doesn't mean it's bad for you.

Just because another nutritional source doesn't have a lot of studies about it doesn't mean that it's all that safe either. Until such studies exist, there's really no way to be sure whether the food you are eating is beneficial to you or not. Protein has gotta come from somewhere and I'm fine if it comes from tofu. Soy protein in general has a large amount of health benefits on many parts of the body.
