Wireless Internet Question

In a couple of weeks I'm going to be purchasing a shiny new macbook laptop, however I won't be able to access the net with it because I've only got a regular wired ADSL modem connected to my desktop PC.
So my question is how would I go about setting up a wireless router or whatever it is that I'd need so I can get access to the internet on my laptop as well as on the desktop PC, would I need to obtain the hardware from my ISP or can I use 3rd party hardware? |

| Buy a wireless router or a simple wired router. I personally never use wi-fi as they are easily crackable. The new encryption mechanism makes the data transfer too slow. |
