I'm looking into buying some turntables and a mixer and I found someone who's trying to sell a pair of technic 1200's and a stanton mixer( not sure of the model). They haven't been used that much and are about a year old. They also need new cartridges. I'm just wondering what I should pay for this, I think he's asking 900-1000$ US.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks |

| depends what the mixer is. You can get brand new 1200's for around $480 ea/ on the internet, and come with carts. Cartridges cost enough money on their own too.. easily $50-100 for a decent one. then of course you need two. if the mixer is a battle mixer, better check out if thats what u want.. I have a stanton battle mixer, and of course I need to upgrade now, to a club/house mixer (as they call them). also remember, cross faders loose sound quality transfer after extreem use. I think its about 100,000 crosses. if he used his tables alot, and did alot of scratching, then it might start to ware down faster than you may like. |

That wont be a problem if you are planning to get one of the Vestac PCV series mixers which can hold up for 2 million passes. |

| i dont really worry about cross fader wearing down b/c i use the volume control & EQ's to mix and leave crossfader in middle. the only thing the cross fader is good for is scratch DJ's... anyways... you can find a nice cheap mixer at 123dj.com ... get a price from there and go to another store and ask for a price match. |

On ebay you can buy brand-new Technics for about $450-480 each.
Just do a search on "technics" and you'll see dozens somewhere in that range. |
