progressiveMOJO - It Rains Too Much Here
View this Thread in Original format
progressiveMOJO
New mix that I threw together during my finals week and just now uploaded. The title of the mix refers to the fact that it rains almost constantly for the month of December in the SF Bay Area, where I go to school.

This is the first mix that I've done using Ableton Live!, and it was done entirely using a mouse to click on things because I haven't broken down and spent the money on a hardware controller. It's pretty elementary, just using Ableton mostly to emulate my A&H Xone:62 that got left at home when I went to school. So please offer me tips and advice, but don't be too harsh.

As for the mix, well, you'll probably recognize almost the entire tracklisting, some of these tracks are ones I've been sitting on for a while or trying to ID. I'm not trying to be revolutionary or groundbreaking, although a lot of these tracks have recently been on a lot of big name's tracklistings, oh well I don't care. I really went through with the mix because up until about the 1hr mark, I was playing around and just found a bunch of tunes in my collection that were perfect for each other (I thought). Techno (not minimal) has been at its finest this year.

Feedback welcome.

grabbing it now...

where do you go to school chief?

Thank you, the tracklist looks good. Agoria had a great year with his release and opening up his new label. D.A.R.Y.L is another great producer that isn't getting enough attention IMO.

I go to school at Stanford, which is in Palo Alto (sort of southwest Bay Area). Takes me a 10min bike ride to the train station, followed by ~50mins on a train to get to San Francisco/Oakland. Nightlife is amazing, really great talent coming in and very friendly and pleasant atmosphere. Not to mention that some of the sound systems blow anything in Texas clean out of the water.

I have to say that this year's music offerings really pleased me. I'll always remember 2006 as the year that Techno really found its place with me, and made me love it. It's too bad that for some people, the minimal crowd makes them less open to the Techno genre in general.

Thanks for the feedback, always nice to hear when people like something :p Diggerz, btw, you were the first person I saw mention the D.A.R.Y.L. track, guess you can see how I liked it. Not to stoke your ego or anything, cause god knows we don't need it getting any bigger.

awesome man... I'm green with envy. I'd love to live in the bay area, let alone attend Stanford. Who knows, maybe they'll accept me as a graduate student next year. What are you studying, and are you an undergrad?

Loved the mix man. It's goin in the car tonight.

i'm an undergrad, studying Aero/Astro Engineering. hopefully I'll be doing my masters there as well, also in engineering. Good luck getting in, it's ing awesome all-around. Amazing school, nightlife that's super-high quality but not pretentious (and none of the guido/dirty mexican stereotypes in particular) like some places. If any of you are ever in the area, let me know.

As I listen again, Doppelwhipper just ing wins. First time I heard it was coming from Lee Burridge on the first night I spent clubbing in San Francisco. It's practically my vote for track of the year.
