am i the only one who dislikes ground n pound bouts? i see myself getting bored watching a lot of UFC.

was also watching the Ultimate Fighter show, and they had Jorge Gurgel, who is supposed to be a brazillian jujutsu blackbelt, and he's from brazil. so he knows his grappling. also, about 4 years of muay thai fighting. he fought Jason von Flue, who is a "freestyle fighter". according to Matt Hughes, von Flue's team coach, he was technically the worst on the team. i thought i would at least get to see a guy get very stylistically pwnd.

they beat the hell out of eachother, yes, but it was also just ground n pound. Gurgel tried a couple of moves, but he wasn't even able to beat von Flue on the ground :conf: it was just an exchange of blows basically. aren't these guys world class? i've seen some stuff that is better from non-professional fighters in MMA gyms, or even in TMA schools.

If you want to see good , watch Pride Fighting with Fedor Emelianenko. The last time this guy lost is 2000. He is without a doubt the top MMA heavyweight in the world. He is a three time World Sambo Champion, the 2002 World Combat Sambo heavyweight champion, the 2002 World Combat Sambo open-weight champion, 2002 Russian Combat Sambo Champion and the 2005 World Combat Sambo heavyweight champion. He was also the RINGS: King of Kings 2001 heavyweight tournament champion, the RINGS: King of Kings 2002 open-weight tournament champion and the PRIDE 2004 World Grand Prix Champion.

I also like Andre Arlovksi from UFC, guy is just nasty.

How is Tito good, he couldn't land anything on lidell. He got stuffed about 4-5 times and got one takedown and he didn't do when he got it.

liddell's sprawl is like no other...you cant shoot on someone who has a sprawl like liddell, let alone not get hit by his bombs on the way in

forest took a pounding too which was surprising. he was the one who cried and ran off in a tantrum....

TKO - ref stopped

he was on his back getting slammed in the face. type where the punch lands and then the head bounces off the mat

of course when you're fighting shamrock who's like double his age

all those antics of grave digging were humbled real quick. tito got cut early on, i really wanted to see him stand up like a man and make it a bloody match. he covered up real quick once he was on the ground.

yah, i like PFC way better. Fedor is the and all, but i find myself being a fan of Genki Sudo :p\

he did pwn a taekwondo (which is my style) fighter with a spinning backfist, and everyone uses that fight to say TKD sucks (and the TKD guy actually had the advantage in the first round) but i still think he is kick ass.

in PFC you get a lot of stylish fighters, which is a lot more fun to watch, and i respect a bit more i guess. IMO, if some of the UFC guys employed more traditional outlooks on some aspects of their strategy, they'd be a lot more successful. you see guys doing one or two punch combos, and single kick attacks. any boxer would flurry the out of the other guy given some of those openings, and most muay thai fighters i see don't go for just one kick. they normally even go for punch kick combos in quick succession. TKD guys? well, i'm not advanced, and i get taught to do AT LEAST 3 kicks with a fake as an opening. in most styles that use both punches and kicks, backtracking in a straight line will still get you pwnd.

i'm not saying UFC fighters are bad, but i'm thinking some skill was lost in translation in this modern tendency to fuse it all up into one big system.
