one of my favourite melodies but i cant get over how the production around it is. its way too simple. are there any good remixes out there?
SMC
The Dreamland sound is classic.
SYSTEM-J
Yeah, it's the same with Children. On the melody level it's a deserved classic, right down to the guitars, but the production is ing weak. Luckily, Tilt did the job properly in '99 and saved it.
RapidFire
yep something along the lines of tilt's courtyard mix is what im looking for
Ian
there's a nice (but housey) morales mix iirc. You have to remember though that when the dreamland album was made, sounds weren't always very polished at all. looking back now we notice, but at the time you don't notice so much, or really bother to any extent :)
SYSTEM-J
I think Miles' production was always a bit lacklustre, even for the day. '96 wasn't exactly the dark ages.
Ian
maybe not, but it worked didn't it. I think many people now use so time to master their album & make everything sound 'right' that even poor albums get good reviews cos the 'sound' is clean.

robert miles is raw music no doubt

Yeah it worked, but it gave his music a pretty short shelf-life. There are tracks much older than Children that weren't obsessively produced but still sound immortal.
Insomnia`SF
dreamland (follwed shortly by another classic in the crystal method - vegas) was the first dance album i ever picked up, back in 97 or 98, all those tracks are great and deserve some respect, and anyone who says differently is an idiot

hmm I cant find any info on this. got a name for the mix?

Yeah... Fable was a good tune. I only heard the version with wayyy too much diva vocals in it though... But I liked the piano melody.

Personally. Dreamland stuff was lackluster, yeah, but I don't think there are any other trance albums that sound remotely like it. Granted, I rarely grab music illegally, and have very little spending money... I have a feeling about this hunch of mine. The dreamland stuff was gloriously rich with it's own character.
