Electro is really taking off right now and though I’ve been spinning this genre for a couple of years I haven’t been too happy with the recent commercialism of the bass lines and melodies. Can you say trance at the turn of the century? lol
This is the first of a two-mix series that intends to show the slightly deeper, darker side of electro that I’m currently spinning. I’m trying to stray from the mainstream path that electro seems to be starting to follow - however the mix does find some uplifting moments with tracks by Mason and Hoxton Whores. It starts off with a bit of a comedown feel with two very good tracks by Marc Romboy and Booka Shade before taking a darker, harder twist with the likes of Stephan Bodzin and Zen Kei. The latter two will definitely have you moving before we hear the familiar melody of Mason’s instant classic “Exceeder” which is followed up by Hoxton Whores pumping jam “Friday Saturday Love.” All-time fave Eric Prydz brings us the next two tracks which are both simply amazing and help us round out the set with a very Italo feel with tracks by The Subs and Andrea Doria, respectively.
