Yeah. Although there was alot of femake skin, I had to focus more on the event, as pretty much everyone else was there to take pics of people and not the DJs. Also would have felt a bit ditry asking an 18 year old girl in nothing but bra and patnies for a pic...i'm getting old :P

Next time I will hopefully get more people pics, but I had to deal with so much drama on the main and house stages that it took up most of my time just to authorize myself to photograph there (even though I was the event photographer!).

I was hoping for the worst like last year, but it all worked out better than I expected. Just need it to work itself out BEFORE I go next time :)

I personally prefer event oriented pics. Overall crowd, parts of the crowd, DJs, setup, etc because it does a lot more to show what the event was like than a bunch of pics of single people or couples. Yeah, a few are great but not a fan of when most pics are of just people. What does that have to do with showing off the important part of the party: the vibe and the music!

But know those clubs and "pro" sites (of which usually have the worst layouts ever) like the people shots. I just don't. :)

Exactly my point! I always believed the exact same thing.

I think what it comes down to is that 99% of other club places thnk this:
Take pics of lots of people -> Give them your card to go get the pic -> Lots of people go to the site.

Of course nobody realizes that the most you can do from that is harvest thier e-mail to spam promotional stuff. NO INDIVIDUAL at any club will be funding your photography in any way.

I always believed that if you take pics of who people are actually there to see (nobody is there to see other people, unless you are in Orange County), people would be more willing to look at EVERY pic because it's the event as a whole.

big props to photographers like you :thepirate

when all i want to see from a party are the setup, lighting, and booth, i cant stand all the pics of meatheads and bimbos :stongue:

rukes, were you that photographer that my friend asked "who do you take pictures for", and you responded "a rave website"?

Nope. When I got asked that question I would say "I'm the event photographer shooting for Insomniac and Rukes.com" or some variation. Never a rave website :)

+1
I can't stand people shots!! because most of the people that look at them don't know who the people are!!!!...plus with just shots of people how the hell can you even tell the difference between one event and another?
Rukes your photos kill!;)
bucke
yeah seriously i second that. whats the point of having pics of random people when you dont even know who they are? i love the backstage shots and shots of the djs though because its a view most people dont really get to see. hehe

Does anyone know offhand any other major California EDM message boards, or general ones? Aside from here, ravelinks, global underground, junglescene, I can't think of any other places to link my pics.
