before the wrath gets unleashed on you here, i'll spare you the flame

just know that a remark has a opinion behind it, just like your post and you are in no position to say who is right or wrong, especially when you post a topic about 'tiesto'

in any case, YOUR OPINION is that you had a great time. I too had that opinion back in 2001, but I no longer feel that way. Understand that point because a lot of people already understood where you're coming from.

$125 is STEEP for 4hours on whatever night you want to call it...the words New Years Eve doesn't ever justify anything monetary when you have bills to pay.
DJ Eco
not a fan of Tiesto myself, but either way, any New Year's Eve party is going to cost 100$+ in any major city, like he said, whether it's a small lounge, or restaurant, or smaller clubs with no headline DJs, just their name.... look at our own city, it cost 125$ for Crobar's party, with Chus & Ceballos and Victor Calderone, who you can see in a few weeks again probably... so 125$ for Tiesto IS a lot, but it's normal... on any note, glad you had fun!

some punctuation would help
Boian
whats up with all the people in NY when they hear someone had good time in boston???? he is not provoking anyone and it is true that many people were complaining about the price like it was a six digit number. If it is too expensive , just dont go, but dont start complaining around because u werent gonna go even if it was 50.

and whats that with the punctuation ???we didnt pass a grammar test before registering for the forum

no one mentioned anything about NY people hearing someone had a good time in boston, cities were not mentioned here as the driving force behind my response. Curious to ask where are you from since you're the one who brought this up?

As I said before, sounds like in his opinion he had a great time and i'm happy that they had enjoyed the show, just that i had the same experience he had in 2001. That doesn't mean I'm knocking him for having a great time, but I can't justify myself paying $125 JUST TO GET IN...ain't even have a drink yet lol

I'm one of those who used to worship Tiesto and now sometimes bashes him, but I see what you're saying. I think there are a couple things in play with some of the NYC folks, but I'll only speak for myself.
* His sets are always pretty high priced, and he plays for only a few hours. Most of the other big guys who come through here play 4-6 hours, so when Tiesto plays 2-4 hours, we get annoyed. In Boston I'm thinking the clubs aren't necessarily open as late, so I assume you wouldn't be expecting sets that long?
* Other big daddy DJ's have, of late, gotten better and better in my opinion. PVD, AVB and Ferry all played multiple amazing sets in NY in 2006, better than I've ever heard them in some cases. On the other hand, Tiesto's last few sets here seem to have gotten worse (12/30 was better than last year though), his mixing and song choices haven't been the greatest, and he spends too much time slowing down the music so we'll all cheer for him. I think he puts self-adoration before the crowd's need for a great vibe.
* Tiesto promotes himself more (or better?) than other guys. He therefore gets labeled a media hungry pop whore. I happen to agree with this, but it's not a great reason to stop liking the music.
* I agree with you that it gets pretty harsh in here, sometimes I don't post an opinion if I think I'm gonna get creamed for it. People who see a shows in NYC are just likely more choosy than Boston, because we get more of these dj's than you. With that comes the cynicism you're seeing.
That said, don't take no crap from nobody, just enjoy the music.

hey listen im not saying tiesto is the best dj anymore cause i dont think he is maybe in the top 5 but im no ammature eaither like this was my first time seeing him im 28 and ive been doing this for about 12 yrs ya since i was 16 i was first brought in by jungle/drum and bass wichever you prefer to call it they both mean the same to me i also listend to some trance and techno but never understood it for the past 7 yrs though trance in all forms has been my # 1 so im not just some clubber that sees a big name and says wow it was a great time ive been doing this since the days of warehouses with generaters used to run the lighting and the soud with no heat in the building in dead ass winter but anyways i was just stateing i had a good time and 125 to get in was about what you were gonna pay to get into any club in any mojor city especially ny and im from ny just not the city so all i was just trying to say was 125 to see a big name like that on NYE wasnt that bad and to top it off the guy played an amazeing set now one of the things i am getting sick of is when i go see him he spinning all the songs he made or remixed come on mix it up a little give us something new he did throw in silence into the mix though and that was a pleaser but other then that just be and adiago for strings give us some differnt tuned when you spin and before i go #1 dj goes to ferry corsten and yes punctuation is are frined but were not in frigen english class
