Well I know what ty rap is. I just want to know if the thread starter knows what he is talking about.
I can't help but laugh when people genre-bash....cause it's always the least musically knowledgeable and or/narrow-minded people that do it. |
LMAO LMAO LMAO get a life.
narrow minded people... lmao you don't even know me or what I've listened too. I use to listen to rap and hip hop all the time before I got into Trance and house music. After becoming use to trance dancing to hip hops to slow. Sorry for making this site obviously you still can't make a thread without one person talking . |

That's just not true, and it shows a lack of understanding. |
actually you are wrong on this one. growing up in a family that loved country music and has vast understanding of it i can easily say that country music on most part atleast for my tatse was about things that really didnt appeal to me. majority of the songs are a bit off on the koo koo side. if you dont beleive me sit down in front of channel 38 for about an hour or so. see and pay close attention to lyrics. yes some of the artists are talented and very popular and i congradulate them but that doesnt mean i lack understanding of their music just because i dont like it.
lack of understanding would be if somebody said " country music sucks ass and i dont listen to it all. never have never will"
well if u never have and never will then how can you say it sucks ass?? thats lack of understanding.
me saying i dont like a certain type of music is my tatste in music. leave the understanding part out of it. |

ok chamillionaire is a one hit wonder
lil john is not a rapper but a producer and a very talented one at that
akon is r&b and r&b hasnt been god since the 90's
nelly is all about mainstream and making money he's the Tiesto of Hiphop but both have their spots in the genre
t-pain who?!
juelz santana did he release 1 album under rocafella and never have a hit off of it unless he had a cameo with camron?
alright now lets really get specific with top 40
Jay-Z <--great artist
Lupe Fiasco <---great artist
eminem <----used to be great until recently but still probably one of the best out there
nas <---- great artist
50 cent <--------meh dont like him or his rapping style, or what he raps abt andhis image but to say hes not talented would be wrong, since every track he does make turns into a top 10 with some ctachy hook u cant get out of your head
Ludacris <--- not repetitive, tho not one of the best mc's with word play hes still a very exciting and annimated
Talib Kweli <--- greta artist
common <--- great artist
Kanye West<--- not the best rapper but a great producer and is leading a transition in hip hop im totally digging
this list can go on...can yours? |
in 2006, according to billboard, only nas, jay-z, and 2pac (who is apparently still putting out albums...lol) were referenced on the top 100, and they are amoung others who can't hold a candle to them.
and to clarify, i never said the genre was without talent, just that top 40 was lacking it for the most part(like the ppl i mentioned)which is lightyears away from blind genre bashing since in no way did i ever imply that the genre as a whole 'ing sucks'. vivid, i agree with your list of talented top 40 artists, but you've gotta admit that this goes both ways. |
