And a supplementary mix for 2006 year! The one I prepared for a New Year's Eve party. It was meant to be danceable for anyone, not only EDM lovers. It is based on commercial/cheesy house, couple remakes of old pop tunes. Cheap trick, alright. But it worked out very well. Hey! mixing house is fun too :) Starts off in a Prydz style. Progressive elements are present up to 25 minute mark, then comes Matthew Dekay with his Higher Thoughts. That is the perfect bridge to the second part of the mix, which can be described with word: Freemasons. Several productions of Freemasons are here, they've been very successful in 2006. The mix ends with Freek U remixed by Haji and Emmanuel after which everyone finds himself on the dancefloor literally begging for more of this ;)
MoN-SooN - New Years Eve (78:09)

me in the arse YES! LOL
No, really. I like this mix. I have a few nitpicks but it is really a guilty pleasure and a great surprise to hear from you. I see from you that you really enjoy my new mix which is very housey and then I see this from you and I do feel a bit of a "great minds think alike" type thing, lol. :stongue:
But I think, it's really only natural for anyone with a love of dance in general and an open mind to want to explore what different genres can provide. House being such an incredible genre in EDM, when you first become open to it, it's like discovering trance all over again. :)
Anyway, criticisms of the mix are that it inevitably drops in energy in the beginning of the middle after the power house of great tracks at the beginning. It picks up energy again but is kinda shaky in flow towards the mid-end to end. I might think this because I dislike the Beyonce remixes, but I do think it kind of looses a progression from middle to end.
I'll restate how awesome the first 5 tracks are. Cheesey? yes. Transitions could've been a bit better? yeah. But Brilliantly mellodically matched and containing high energy? Absolutely. Great stuff. The rest of the mix is also a joy to listen to, I only had those comments above.
I think it's great that you have expanded your skill set and can see the fun you are having. Really, keep up the great work and always follow your passion (but I don't need to tell you that). :) |

| yup, again you hit the spot with your review. I totally agree with you on the ups and downs issue. The thing is I didn't really care much about the progression this time as I was expecting the mix to be kinda background stuff on the party. A few ups could get the attention. That's good we both noticed the problem. Great minds think alike lol :D This housey mix gets much less attention than pure trance City Lights, but I'm happy you enjoyed it. Also if you could give me some remarks on the transitions - which do you think could have been done better. I'm asking you because "the only way to get smarter is by playing a smarter opponent" :) Thanks Jason! |
