What an awesome weekend… I wanted to say a big thanks to everyone, especially all the TA’s who attended last weekend for my opening set for Blank & Jones, and coming back the next day for Rise of the Phoenix! We did end 2006 with a bang, one of the best years I have ever had in a while. Now Im sitting at my desk again here at work. Still recuperating like the rest of ya.. UGH, it feels like a Monday.
Durning my set, I handed out around 200 or so CD’s. I knew I had some left over, and Ill give those out when I get the chance this month. Thanks for those of you who came up asking me to autograph those CD’s. I thought that was pretty cool, and it was the first time that ever happened to me. There is one person I would like to meet again. I met her on NYE. I don’t remember if I gave her the CD with the guest pass for the 20th of this month, but she was super cute, and I feel stupid for not being able to remember your name!!! Sorry, I was a bit buzzed because I celebrated with one drink someone bought me. I usually don’t drink, and was pretty drunk. So if your reading this PM me!
I hope everyone had an awesome time. Was great seeing and meeting all of you. Was also cool to meet some TA’s there once again!
If any of you have photos or video, please send them to me at [email protected], or post them here. Matt Darey is asking me to send me what we have of the night, as the set he was recording will be one of the live shows coming up on Nocturnal. Any video you all have of Matt, please send it to me. Id like to round up stuff for him by the end of this week.
In addition to playing the pre-NYE launch with Blank and Jones.I was in charge of taking care of Steve Helstrip | Thrillseekers on NYE. We arrived at the club 10 minutes before 12. Just as Matt was getting off Rank1 was getting on. We all toasted drinks at 12, and it was really a fantastic feeling and vibe in the club. After dinner yesterday before Steve’s flight back to London, I asked him what his favorite US club was. In all honesty, Steve reply was: “It has to be 1015. The way the main room is setup, you get to interact with the audience, and the fans. You don’t usually get that at other clubs, most of the time the booths are elevated, I like the way the booth is at 1015. It’s really quite cool being able to interact with others. 1015 is intimate, in a way that lets you touch your fans.”
During the middle of the night, a mishap happened where Steve thought his video camera was misplaced. If some of you remember me comin out with a bag and jumping up and down. It’s because I found the video camera. I will share it here, when Steve sends it to me, He showed me footage of Giant too with Rank in LA that he had taken, very cool stuff folks. The video was shot completely in night mode, so you can see peoples faces and stuff in the crowd. Very cool indeed.
As a big fan of Steve’s, I’ve never encountered a Dj with the energy and charisma he brings. He really puts on a show, and doesn’t miss a beat. If you haven’t seen this man live, I strongly suggest you do.
I didn’t agree with that mixer though. I think some of you who stuck around to the wee hours before the main room shut down can bear witness when I got on for a few tracks. Nuff said on that. Lol
Anything anyone wants to add, please add here. = ) Tracks I played closing the room was Sean Tyas – Lift (Sean Tyas Rework) and Marcus Shultz – Never be the same (Mike Shiver Remix)
I will be posting some photos when I get the chance tonight. and some video I shot also...
I will be playing again on Jan 12 for Alibi’s one year anniversary this month, and booked to open for MIKE SHIVER on JAN 27th!!!!!!!!!!! Ill have more info on this as the days unfold. I hope to see you all again in the next coming weeks. Love to all and Happy New Year!!!!!!! |

Steve and Rank 1 played at Spundae LA (Circus) the night before, not Giant.
Just wanted to make that clear!
Steve has said in interviews he loves playing in SF and LA the most when it comes to the US (actually, he mentions it when it comes to his favorite places playing in the world). Ten15 does indeed have the best booth setup ANYWHERE!!! Circus' in LA is way more upfront and closer to the crowd but it's too cramped. I'm not a big fan of it.
